Butt connector sizes for 2.5mm ??

It will be used to convert the radial to a ring but every socket and appliance is connected with twin core and earth cable, so everything is earthed but only down one side of the ring circuit. The two core cable is nothing more than a route back to the fuse board. Picture a radial circuit...

What are the best MCB's ?

New CU is out of the budget for now. I've been renovating a house for over a year (trying to). If I decided to sell though would a new CU have to be installed and certified in order to pass the survey ? Regarding the breakers the 20A is to replace a 15A. Maybe you're right about the others...

Butt connector sizes for 2.5mm ??

It would be easy to replace the two core but there's nothing going on the two core cable at all, it's crimped at one end and terminated at the fuse board at the other.

What are the best MCB's ?

I'm swapping the fuses for the plug in MCB's. I should've also said that it's an old Wylex fuse board, no RCD protection and the fuses slot in with two pins, that's how the new MCB's will have to fit aswell. I think I read that some MCB's have four pins ?

What are the best MCB's ?

I'm swapping my old re-wireable fuses for MCB's but there are different brands and I'm wondering which is best ? I need a 20A and 3 x 30/32A. Why is there 30A and 32A ?

Butt connector sizes for 2.5mm ??

I need to crimp some 2.5mm twin & earth cable together but I'm not sure what size connectors I need to use and what colour I'll need to use in the ratchet crimping tool ?? Also, one cable is stranded and the other is solid, is this a problem ? The other cables I'm crimping are all solid...

    Spurring safety question

I'm going to put all sockets onto the ring regardless of whether or not the spurring would cause problems as it's easy to change at the moment (house is only half decorated and there's no carpets anywhere). There's going to be a 42" plasma, Xbox, PS3, gaming PC, power amp, and a couple of...

How do I connect a PIR to a light ?

If I bought this PIR: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Byron-Motion-Detector-Switch-1000W/dp/B001B0R45W/ref=pd_sim_light_1 And this light: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Massive-15171-42-10-Munchen/dp/B000E9WY9W/ref=sr_1_17?s=lighting&ie=UTF8&qid=1363115403&sr=1-17 How would I connect the two together ...

    Spurring safety question

So realistically, what would happen if I actually tried to run all that equipment off those two spurred double sockets ?

    Spurring safety question

He's a jack of all trades type, I've learned through experience to keep away from them. He's a good plasterer though, I'll give him that.

    Spurring safety question

I bought a house a year ago and my GF's step dad did some electrical work for us. He fitted two double sockets and one single socket off one JB, so the JB goes to one double socket and then onto the next double. The single socket is spurred off the same JB but in a different direction (not...

Do I need to seal slate tiles if they're in a hearth ?

I've bought some slates to tile my hearth with, the fire that will go in it is only electric and there won't be any water near it to leave water marks etc... The guy in topps tiles said something about the grout and adhesive soaking into the slates though so it would need to be sealed. Is he...

Leaky roof, how to fix and cost ?

Why did he say tin ? I'm worried he's gonna turn up and fix the wrong thing. He didn't have a proper look at the problem from inside the loft because he couldn't get up the loft hatch (I only have a step ladder to get up there and he was quite small). So he just poked his head up the hatch and...

Leaky roof, how to fix and cost ?

I don't think he's looking to replace the lead, just whatever it is that's underneath it. Can any roofers chirp in on this ? The problem is moisture getting into my loft, the rafter closest to the chimney is damp and there's a line of moisture following the line of the rafter directly below...

Leaky roof, how to fix and cost ?

I should also say that the rafter closest to the chimney is very damp, there's a line of moisture directly below the rafter where water has dripped.

Leaky roof, how to fix and cost ?

I've got someone coming next week, £130.00 for the job. He had a look and said something about tin being used under the lead flashing which has rusted and waters getting in that way. I can see daylight from inside my loft so obviously the flashing has come away aswell. I only started learning...

Leaky roof, how to fix and cost ?

Thanks for the reply. If it is just some flashing that needs replacing, and it's only around the chimney that would need it. How much should I be looking to pay ? I need to know roughly what it would cost ready for when I'm having people over giving me quotes.

Leaky roof, how to fix and cost ?

I went into my loft today to check for leaks after all the rain we've had. There's nothing in the loft, just rafters and tiles when you look up and ceiling joists & insulation when you look down. The house is a semi and at the end where my house joins onto next door I can see daylight between...

Shower pipes in stud or brick wall ?

I have the shower, not with me though. He's saying he needs room to connect the pipes to the mixer so a stud wall is needed for access from the side ? Using your picture as an example, how would the mixer connect to those pipes ? The one I have needs a spanner so they're compression joints ?

Shower pipes in stud or brick wall ?

That's how I want mine to look, I don't know why he's wanting to build a stud wall, just sounds like more work and I'd be no better off in the end.
