Radiator or electric towel rail in ensuite?

Hi, I'm planning a small ensuite in the loft room (above existing bathroom). Do I need to add a radiator to the system, or is there an electric towel rail that will do the job? Cheers

Mould on lining paper but not plaster?

It will help reduce the cold surfaces. A few other changes should also help, eg taking out much of the furniture (its going to be an office), looking at better dehumidification and/or cracking open the window a bit where possible.

Mm.. Insulated lining paper.. A medium term fix.

Mould on lining paper but not plaster?

More recently I've been doing batten / board with insulation between the battens for external walls, and ideally I'd knock the old plaster off and do that. But I have an attic and three bathrooms to renovate, so don't really have the time at the moment.

Mould on lining paper but not plaster?

You're dead right about the wardrobe issue. Shocking behind there. I've emptied the room, I think I will remove all paper and paint anti fungal on the plaster, leave it a bit and repaper, just ensure enough ventilation and maybe one of those little moisture traps in addition to the dehumidifier...

Mould on lining paper but not plaster?

Hi all, We had small room with two external walls and a pitched roof that was leaking. A couple of years ago, I got the leaks sorted out (I think) and the exterior repointed. My mistake, but at the time I decided that wet plastering was the best way to go, and spent far too long building it all...

    Stair cracks in brick

Hi all, Have knocked off all the plaster in the first floor back bedroom of my Victorian semi, to reveal a couple of runs of stair cracks where the bricks have shifted. Obviously these could have been there for decades, so I'm not sure it's anything to worry about. As to ground conditions...

Paper off.. Plaster blown.. But how to preserve that nice coving?

Still in the game! Looks like some old lead pipes for gas lights in there.

Paper off.. Plaster blown.. But how to preserve that nice coving?

Hi Another Victorian house held together by thick wallpaper. I've stripped it off, but unsurprisingly the plaster needs removing too. Is it possible to preserve that nice plaster coving? Or will it all fall down the minute chisel hits plaster? 20170530_130741 by MICH43L posted 30 May 2017...

Steel coloured radiator pipes, and how to join to them?

Hi I need to add another radiator at the top of my system. I just checked the feed and return pipes are not copper. They are a mucky grey/silver colour (stainless?) I want to add T-Pieces to these, and some copper pipe off to another radiator. Am I right in thinking these are likely to be...

    Converting a loft room.

Through the foil, yes, just like plasterboard. The really thick stuff I'm not sure, you may get a kind of D shaped curve in your cross-section. Best thing is to try with an off-cut, maybe score both sides, but it does snap really well.

Score it with a stanley knife and snap it.

    Converting a loft room.

Battens were not really about cross-ventilation but fixing the Kingspan in place. I'm hoping that this can be held in place by plasterboard, long screws and butting up against the beams. I think the voids should handle the cross ventilation, especially if the vent tiles are positioned above...

    Converting a loft room.

Hi all, I'm converting an attic room (roughly 4m square) which has only around 70mm depth joists, supported by large beams. Black bitumen type sarking felt. Two small velux windows currently fitted to work around. I've fitted 7 round soffit vents at the front of the house, but there's no...

Which Corrugated Roof Panels are best?

Just did my shed in the bitumen type stuff from Wickes. Lovely stuff. Smells like Jack Daniels :-)

    Solid loft insulation

Hi, Bought a house (victorian semi) with two loft/attic rooms. One was already converted, the other bare brick and pitched roof. The rafters are about 70mm deep, with black bitumen-type felt which looks to be in fairly good condition. The previous owner had started putting in 80mm foil...
