    Turbomax Expansion Vessel - DIYable?

Thanks for your replies. I repressurised the boiler to 1.5bar after the heating went off tonight. I then pressed the pin in the ev's shrader valve, and jets of water are shooting out. Loads of it. Am I right that the ev is shot, and it's not worth trying to pressurise it? If yes, back...

    Turbomax Expansion Vessel - DIYable?

Hi Bunnyman No, I haven't. The pressure on guage was really low, because the ch had been on meaning the pressure disappeared out prv pipe, and I hadn't re-pressurised boiler. I pushed the pin in the ev's valve and some drops of water came out, but not loads. There didn't seem to be...

    Turbomax Expansion Vessel - DIYable?

I posted yesterday about my PRV dripping badly, plus pressure dropping, and pressure not rising when ch was on. It was actually falling- suppose pressure was going out of PRV. http://www.diynot.com/forums/plumbing/prv-pipe-dripping-badly-on-turbomax.302203/#2207622 I have found the reason...

PRV Pipe Dripping Badly On Turbomax

Thanks for your reply. So I should be able to take the prv apart? Also, can I check the exp vessel with the prv dripping? Presumably I need to check the ev's pressure with the boiler pressure at zero, but is it ok to do with a leaking prv? What should the Turbo's ev pressure be?

PRV Pipe Dripping Badly On Turbomax

Hello to all. My Vailant Turbomax, 7 yrs old, is dripping badly on the prv pipe outside. Although the heating is on, the pressure isn't rising from the cold pressure, I suppose it's being lost with the leak. I topped it up to 1.4 bar, and its about the same with ch on. My questions are; 1)...

Advice On Fixing New Pipes To Joists.

I am doing up my house, and taking the opportunity to replace all water and ch pipes whilst the floors are up. The old pipes were over 50 yrs old, and installed with gravity feed systems in mind. As a result, not much attention to securing pipes was taken, and this proved noisy when we...

Can I Bend Chrome Plated Copper Pipe?

I am going to plumb in my towel heater. I'm using 15mm chrome plated copper pipe, and will need a 90 degree bend in each pipe. I've never used plated pipe before. Will it bend OK in my Hilmor bender, or will the chrome be damaged and flake off?

Union Type Lockshield Valve - Question

I need to replace a broken union type radiator lockshield valve. The original valve tail that screws into the rad is stuck solid, and I fear if I use any more force I'll beak something trying to get it out. Now, the new valve tail that comes with the new Wickes l/shield has a rubber O ring in...

Can I Get A Programmer That Allows Seperate HW & CH Timi

My Potterton EP3002 is an older model programmer. Although it has seperate slide controls for HW and CH, if the programmer is on, then both CH and HW are on together. There is no way to seperate out the HW and CH timings. Can I get a programmer that allows 2 seperate timings per day for CH...

Bleeding Pump - Is This Right?

Thanks Boilerman. After moving house, and trying to sort out a basically sound ch system that needed a couple of new rads, I'm relieved that I can now A) Stop spending B) Get 'She Who Must Be Obeyed' off my back for a while I just imagined I would get a jet of water from the pump bleed...

Is My Vented System Working Properly?

Thanks. So, you're saying its not right to keep firing and cutting out before room temp is reached? Basically, not enough water is flowing through the boiler to carry the heat away? The pump was a little noisy until recently, and I'm not sure that it bled properly. See my other post -...

Is My Vented System Working Properly?

Just moved to a bungalow. Its a conventional vented system, Concord WRS boiler, two 2-port motorised valves and 7 rads. Boiler stat set to 3.5 (max is 5) When I turn on the heating which one of the two things below should happen? A) The boiler should fire up, and stay fired up, until the...

Bleeding Pump - Is This Right?

Just moved house. My conventional open vented heating system has the pump on a vertical pipe just below the boiler. I drained down to replace a couple of radiators. When I refilled, I bled the Grundfoss pump. I have never bled a pump before, and when I loosened and removed the bleed screw, I...

Does Anyone Recognise This Tap - Need New Parts

Does anyone know what make/model my kitchen mixer is? Or, does anyone know where I can get new ceramic discs for it? Its dripping, but I would rather fix than replace if I can. Apologies for the 1980s tiles!

    Essex Flange Fitting Questions

I need to fit an Essex flange to my HW cylinder, so that I can fit a shower pump. My questions; 1) What is the best tool to buy, to gut the hole in the cylinder? 2) Where is the best place to fit the flange on the cylinder?

Can You Buy Radiator Bracket Clips To Stop Expansion Noise?

As the topic title says really. Are the small plastic clips that normally fall off the rad brackets after a few years available anywhere? All my rads click, bit of a pain after a while!
