    Shower pump issue?

We have a Monsoon pump in the airing cupboard for our shower. Just lately when we turn the shower on there has been a hesitation before the water comes out. Just a slight hesitation initially but now 3 or 4 seconds. Is it on the way out? No fall in pressure that we've noticed. Any suggestions?

    Very hot water

terryplumb Yes I know about Legionella but it is steaming hot. It would be dangerous if we had elderly or young in the house. Just wondered if there are any other issues we've missed.

    Very hot water

Immersion is still in cylinder but defunct (Completely dead and disconnected). The cylinder stat has been set at 55 forever and a day. The new one fitted this morning has been set at same temp. All I know about the water temp is that I can't hold my hands under it. I have always preferred it at...

    Very hot water

My hot water has suddenly become very hot. I usually have the thermostat set at 55°. No settings have changed. Always on an all day. I have an Ideal Logic boiler which is 2 years old. Our heating engineer changed both valves for heating and hot water this morning. They have periodically been...

    Silicone on glass hob

Not my disaster and probably not a disaster for some but the end of a long line during kitchen refit. Fitter has smeared clear silicone on my beautiful, shiny induction hob and it won't rub off. WD40 has been suggested but will it turn things into a worse probkem?

    Wrong kitchen tap

I foolishly purchased a Hansgrohe single lever mixer 260 tap for my new fitted kitchen. Apparently we have a gravity fed system so all I get when using hot water is a poor stream. Cold is OK as mains fed. Returning the tap and buying another really isn't an option. I thought very carefully about...

    Kitchen lighting help

Thank you for your detailed post. Kind of you to take the trouble and offer such helpful advice. I have decided to ditch the downlights idea having just stayed at a hotel for a few days. The en suite bathroom was large (not much smaller than my kitchen) and was lit using so many downlights I...

    Kitchen lighting help

I am happy with any of the 3 types you mentioned as long as they are in a simple, contemporary style and easy to keep clean. I would like bright clear lighting, without shadows, preferably daylight or on the cool spectrum.. Not bothered about mood lighting. It's only a small simple kitchen (4m x...

    Kitchen lighting help

Would it work in a 4m x 4m kitchen if I have this as the main light www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-thea-gu10-led-spotlight-3-plate/p2763097 and 2 or 3 downlights directly over the sink and work area? Thanks for any comments and advice

    Kitchen lighting help

Thanks for your reply. I'm rapidly going off downlights! If I went for a 3 spotlight plate with led gu10 bulbs would that be bright enough or would I need 2 x 3? We currently have a 3 spotlight fitting with standard 60w silvered bulbs and some areas of the kitchen are in shadow, particularly...

    Kitchen lighting help

Thought this would be the easy part of our new kitchen! I thought I wanted downlights for our new kitchen (approx 4m x 4m) as I have been more than happy with our choice in the bathroom. Astro lighting's Vanvouver. Photo attached. I believe they are now considered to be "the devil's work"...

    Plumbing near main fuse box

I suspect the answer will be no but here goes..... Our main fuse board is in the kitchen store cupboard. We are planning a new kitchen and need to relocate the washing machine (to make better use of available space in what is a small kitchen) into the said cupboard. Do rules and Regs prevent us...

New boiler - ticking rads with hot water only

Had a new Ideal Logic System boiler fitted recently following final meltdown of old boiler. Following fitting we had loads of air in system which I've slowly got rid of by bleeding bit by bit and awful running water sounds as though rads are half empty when heat switched on. Water fizzing in one...

    Losing pressure on Ideal Icos

Pressure kept dropping on our Ideal Icos boiler (gone from every few weeks to weekly, now daily). Each morning the heating doesn't come on because it's below 1 on the gauge. I top up and we get heat until it drops again. Plumber finally had to re pressurise the expansion tank last week. He...
