    Current (Amps) Problem ?

Is this of any use? http://www.efergy.com/en/index.php It clips onto your meter tail and measures the total current taken. It works out the wattage by assuming a given voltage and a power factor of 1.

How do I remove a tap handle?

A simple job - changing a tap washer on a standard tap. However I cannot remove the handle. I've removed the screw in the side but it will not budge. I was thinking of heating the handle with a blow torch but I don't want to melt the plastic insert in the top of the handle. Help!

This is the nearest I could find. http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=96864&doy=13m3 Still a bit short on current but a lot better than what you are using at the moment.

I'll try that! The council know the status of the property as I don't pay council tax but I pay non-business rates. Had another look around today and investigated why a light was not working. This is what I found! Sorry it's a bit blured. The earth of the light fitting is connected to the...

Mira Sport electric shower no power.

There should be an isolating switch. Look for a switch outside the bathroom. It might be a pull switch inside the bathroom. See http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Index/Showers_Index/Shower_Switches/

I think the green slime was caused by liquid getting into the socket judging from gunge on the surface of the socket. The cables looked ok. The socket is hidden down the right side of the hob unit. It feeds the fridge. This is the 70s kitchen!

I would like to keep a socket there to power tools etc. (via an RCD of course) The only work I have done, so far, is to replace the two double sockets in the lounge with switched sockets and to replace the ONLY socket in the kitchen (apart from the one on the cooker control unit). That socket...

The CU, meter etc are in the garage. The man from e-on thought it was damp so he prodded the mounting board and was satisfied. This was taken before the meter was changed. Here's a closeup of the CU. (It's newer than the one in my home. That dates to 1975and has rewireable fuses) The...

    Chalet Wiring - with Pics!

Here is the CU and new meter installed by e-on. I had the meter changed as it was old (01/84) and only rated at 60A and I wanted to install a shower. The guy from e-on said the company fuse will have to be changed and thicker tails fitted to the i/p of the meter. He didn't comment on the...

    Chalet Wiring - with Pics!

I have recently bought a chalet. I can only occupy it from Easter until the end of Sept. I only own the building not the land. It's the same as buying a static caravan on a site. Does this count as a dwelling for the Electricity Regs? The reason I ask is the state of the wiring. The meter...
