Wet kitchen blamed on grout (now with pics)

I have been around again. When the mains water is on I can see water coming into the gap behind the cabinet from the floor and a drip from the wall above the hole in the wall. This stops when the water is turned off. The pics show behind the kitchen cabinet where the water is pooling, the hole...

Wet kitchen blamed on grout (now with pics)

Shower is on same wall. The mixer tap was fitted in January. The plumber who fitted the shower mixer has been back to find the leak and did not suspect the shower. Is there a void that pipes run down behind the tiles or do they touch the walls. Could it leak from an olive on the shower, down...

Wet kitchen blamed on grout (now with pics)

She had a plumber out initially. He did not know what the problem was and would need to rip out the kitchen cabinets to progress. He was not too keen though as they probably would not go back and the issue could be elsewhere. He did not think it was the shower.

Wet kitchen blamed on grout (now with pics)

Hi all Not sure if this belongs in the plumbing or tiling section My mother in law has recently discovered a leak in her kitchen, it has been leaking for months as the bottom of the cabinets are rotten and there is mould behind them. The insurance company's leak detection expert came round...

    Facia with plastic cover

Cheers Andy, I plan to be but it looks like a no show again this time. I assume he can't come when he likes and needs an appointment.

    Facia with plastic cover

After a few no shows they finally came round today at 16:30 to make good (while I was home). The two workers did nothing and spent the time trying to convince me all was well, nothing needed doing and can they have the money. I refused as I wanted to see the state of the existing fascia first...

    Roof access via carport

I was hoping it wasn't risky. I probably won't do it as don't want to end up worse off if it all goes wrong and I end up needing a new carport (and car as I would most likely forget to move it). I have now asked for some quotes for new felt and trays for the bottom bit of roof. Thanks Jono

    Roof access via carport

Hi All I am fitting eaves felt trays and need to access the roof above the carport. The carport roof is polycarbonate. Can I use some 18mm OSB as a crawler board or do I need something stronger. The carport is around 5m long with 3 struts across so a crawler board would only have 2 struts to...

    Facia with plastic cover

I suppose that would be best way forward. The sad thing is I have done all of the tasks listed before when I replaced my flat roof (except removing and replacing the facia) and it is easy work. I would have attempted the job mysef if it wasn't for the electricity cable. How do you get the...

    Facia with plastic cover

Would it be possible to replace a small bit of wood directly under the electric support, say between two eves, without too much fuss, this would keep the electric company happy. I would want this bit replaced as is buckled where the electric is pulling on it. I have eaves protectors which I have...

    Facia with plastic cover

Hi all The owner has come and said his boys say the fascia wood is sound and if he were to replace it the tiles will drop and he will need to re-cement them in place, this will disturb the roof etc etc. He has said the exposed bit of wood above the plastic facia cover is the batten the tiles...

    Facia with plastic cover

Thanks for the replies. We arranged to meet last night to discuss but he did not turn up. I will try to arrange another appointment with him, do I really need to give him a chance to make good. I am reluctant to pay him anything for the job, I know he has spent 2 hours on it but he has not done...

Is it acceptable for a rubber roof to have ripples?

Attached is my first and only attempt to replace a flat roof with membrane. It is really easy to do and seemed to naturally lie flat without creases, I did replace the boarding though so it had a new surface to lie on.

    Facia with plastic cover

Thanks for the comments. So what is a ball park amount for 8m of facia replacement, no scaffolding needed (he used a crawler plank on garage / carport). He is coming back tonight to discuss but he has already said on the phone that the cladding is strong enough as it is nailed into the eves. I...

    Facia with plastic cover

Hi I requested to have a facia replaced and a plastic protective cover put over it. I needed the facia replaced as the power line into the house was pulling the facia away from the house as it was rotting. The electricity company wants to renew the power line but are refusing to attach it to...

    Toilet part identification

Hi all I need to replace the bit pointed to in the attached picture. As far as I can tell from google it is a flush pipe cone or connector but there are a number of different types and I can't tell which I have. Can anyone point me in the right direction. The flush pipe is 38mm and the seal is...
