What screed can be installed ~30mm deep on a floating floor?

I guess i'd need to use some self leveller on the concrete to get it level before laying the celotex and ply otherwise it'd be impossible to get it level with the rest of the house.

What screed can be installed ~30mm deep on a floating floor?

I have ~55mm I need to fill to make the conservatory level with the rest of the house. I would like to lay 25mm Celotex to help reduce how cold the floor is before I lay underfloor heating. I know 25mm Celotex isn't much, but I'm sure it will help. Sand/Cement floating screed needs to be a...

Footing / Foundation Drainage for Victorian house around a bay window

It is very shallow for a mains. The original pipe was 20mm MDPE. It was uninsulated the whole run when we bought the house. I've replaced it with 25mm MDPE and insulated it from entry (as shown in the photo) to the stopcock under the stairs with 19mm pipe lagging. When I come to do the front...

Whole house subfloor refit. Floorboards vs Sheets?

I completely understand boards must end on a joist, my only concern has been the long part of the boards not landing on a nogging. Joists either end are 50mm from the wall.

    Bath Installation

I think the biggest consideration is ensuring the joists are good enough to take the weight of a bath full of water. Building Regs for joist sizes: http://nhbccampaigns.co.uk/landingpages/techzone/previous_versions/2010/Part6/section4/appendix.htm It's also good to look at the condition of the...

Whole house subfloor refit. Floorboards vs Sheets?

I really can't lift the insulation and fit supports for every joint so I assume using a T&G product (probably OSB3 as it is reasonably priced and Selco stock a good product) would be ideal in this scenario? Or am I really over complicating and thinking this... as I tend to do.

Whole house subfloor refit. Floorboards vs Sheets?

Thanks both. Is this suitable? I find it easier to source materials from big retailers. https://www.selcobw.com/products/timber-mdf-sheet-materials/sheet-materials/plywood/structural-plywood-ce2-2440-x-1220-x-18mm

Footing / Foundation Drainage for Victorian house around a bay window

Hi all, Under my ground floor joists in some areas is a little damp. It doesn't penetrate very high up the wall due to the DPC. The worst seems to be in the corner of the living room which on the other side of the wall is the gutter drain outside. I've broken the paving around the drain and...

Whole house subfloor refit. Floorboards vs Sheets?

Sorry I don’t think my reply was clear. Subfloor ends will be supported at a joist, however there won’t be support for the ends which go against the joists. Looking at the photo attached, imagine the sheer is a full sheet of ply. It is supported at joist ends but it won’t full on every...

Whole house subfloor refit. Floorboards vs Sheets?

Just a thought, why do sheet materials such as plywood need the end joints supported if they aren't tongue and groove, yet traditional floorboards don't? I've noticed a problem. My noggings are staggered with insulation filled to the top of the joists so I can't installed supports for the...

Whole house subfloor refit. Floorboards vs Sheets?

In hindsight, I would have made many changes to how I laid my new ground floor joists, but I installed 75x100 joists with 1.5m clear spans at 350 centres. Noggings every 2ft or so. I'm using cement overlay UFH boards which are 18mm think screwed to the subfloor. Another 6mm ply on top screwed...

Whole house subfloor refit. Floorboards vs Sheets?

Thank you very much for your reply. 18mm finished level was the idea. I'd buy wood to suit this. How well of a competitor is Plywood to chipboard? I'm more concerned about quality and it lasting many years then cost. If plywood is suitable, what grade or type is best? Thank you so much

Whole house subfloor refit. Floorboards vs Sheets?

Hi all, I am installing new flooring in my house refurb and wasn't sure whether I should install standard pine floorboards or some sort of sheet material like T&G chipboard or OSB. I'm not a fan of sheet material as I find it harder to install if walls aren't square but I am finding it hard to...

UFH Manifold Installed in Kitchen Tall Unit

Evening all, Just wondering if anyone has ever installed an underfloor heating manifold in a kitchen tall unit before? I plan to cut the back of the unit out to fit over the manifold but I am concerned about the heat output. I wont have any food stored in the cupboard above or next to where...

Hiding pipework under wall mounted vanity.

It's my first house so I am very new to how things work.. please bear with me.. The Mrs wants a wall mounted vanity in our new bathroom, but I can't chase the pipe work into the wall because it's solid external facing wall which I'm worried could allow the pipe work to freeze on a very cold...

    Cavity Insulation for Roof Rafters?

Hi all, Are there any issues with using cavity insulation in roof rafters? Most insulation I'm finding is rated 0.044 W/mK, where are cavity insulation is commonly rated at 0.032 W/mK. Celotex boards are 0.022 W/mK but will be difficult to fix unless I remove the entire plastered ceiling. Thanks
