brilliant, all good advice! But as for the distance down the rafter once i know the distance between wall plates? is it just measure each rafter from the ridge so the two distances are equal, adjusting if neccessary?

although useful, it doesnt really help with my original question. I need an on-site technique rather than a theoretical technique for the actual birdsmouthing!

Does anybody know an on-site technique for positioning birdsmouths on raised tie trusses? I know the theory behind it all and could work it all out using the span, etc but i just cant see all those 1st fix framers working it all out everytime - surely there must be a practical alternative...

Hi all! My problem is this: My Worcester Bosch (15+ years old) has been switched to Hot Water "on" and Central Heating "off" all summer. However whenever i demand hot water (either washing machine, tap, shower etc) i can hear the pump running in the boiler and the central heating pipework...

agile your a hero - all sorted, must of been the anti-frost thing. Havent got a clue why british gas installed the boiler in an unheated outhouse - it just doesnt seem to make sense to me! They didnt even lag the pipes! Will probably install a little rad in the outhouse and leave it on...

ok sorry for the delay in getting back to you all, but ive now tried the solution mentioned ( i presume ive done it correctly; the plug on the PCB was labelled flow switch so thats the one i unplugged!) and it didnt make any difference. When i turn the timer dial on the front of the boiler...

sorry to be a pain, but what will the divert valve look like? ie how do i know which plug goes to the microswitch on the front of it? And so if it is indeed the switch, then can i replace the switch, or the whole pcb? thanks
