    Painting over PVA spills

Had some walls skimmed and there are what I guess are PVA spills on the plaster. I've given the walls a mist coat but you can see the PVA marks through the mist coat. Should I apply some Stain Block to the areas and then give another watered down coat to stop any future problems? Thanks

    Render over DPC

For the record if I had done this myself which I didnt, I would have used the same blockwork throughout. the Guy who did the work wasn't that cheap and his previous work looked ok.

    Render over DPC

Do you mean hack off render to a certain height, fix the drip bead then re-render down to it? When you say the gap between the joists - do you mean between the two in the second picture? If so there's an extra joist in there now!

    Render over DPC

As there will then be a gap between the bottom of the bead and the decking where there will be bare block work do I need to coat that with bitumen to the level of the DPC?

    Render over DPC

Is it pretty straight forward to put a bit of board along the decking and then just run a grinder along it or do I need to put on drip beads etc.? A little guidance would be appreciated.

    Render over DPC

My builder having done a runner has left me in rather a pickle! He has rendered below the DPC which he assured me was ok but having looked into I don't think is correct and neither does the BCO. The first picture shows the original location of the DPC just above the engineering bricks...

    Paint flaking on external render

2-3 weeks - I queried this with him at the time as he used 3x the amount of Sandtex paint I expected him to use but he said it was ok. A few weeks after that he used filler on top of the paintwork to get a smoother surface in places and then painted it pretty much straight away.

    Damp Query

I've had the ground floor injected and sand and cement rendered but the joist which can be seen in the first picture where it comes out the wall is slightly damp. Is there anything that can be done about it? The other pictures show where the wall is in relation to the outside walls. I've only...

2 gang 2 way intermediate switch wiring

Blue in L1 and Brown in L2 of the intermediate switch at the start of the hallway. This switch is working and turns the hall lights on and off. The electrician - he did the wiring but didn't fit the switches so i'm assuming it was so there are no live wires projecting out the wall.

2 gang 2 way intermediate switch wiring

ok - good to know I've got the right switch for this then. What i'm confused over is that the first switch in the hallway only has 1 blue and 1 brown which I wired as per the wiki. I would have thought there should have been another wire for the 2 way switching to work. The second switch...

2 gang 2 way intermediate switch wiring

Hi, i may have bought the wrong switches but wanted to check whether I can use them. At the start of the hallway I have a switch for the lights and I've used an intermediate switch and this works fine. http://www.screwfix.com/p/lap-10ax-intermediate-switch-polished-chrome/52431 At the end...
