What frames would be best to replace wood sash windows fitted in a year 2007 terrace house? (want windows replaced as next row of terraces being built all have upvc top hung open out windows. The new builder challenged the planning equirement to have wood - and he paid the £85 to have the...
On several new houses in a terrace the extractor fan pvc flexible ducting is terminating in the space above the soffit and under the tiles. There are no roof vent tiles or grilles fitted on the soffit itself.
This is for the bathroom and en-suite shower room.
There is the soffit trickle...
But does it leak, or wobble, or have any other problem with it?
apart from the screws into plasterboard and the isolation valves fitted safely behind a seriously siliconed bath panel - I would not know as Ive never used it for a proper bath in 4 months :D
?
Have you come here just to have a go at your installer?
not intentionally
just saying it like it looks like to me
Ive never seen a tube of silicone used before like this before
Thanks for explaining
I think that the 6 metre difference in pressure top rad to bottom rad plays some part in deciding first where the hot water from the boiler goes when it first fires up
as hot water likes to rise up a pipe again I think its going to go upstairs sooner than downhill -...
Thanks Agile - I have gone against contradicting advice from Screwfix forum posters saying to leave alone unless rads dont get hot.
However - the upstair rads got hotter quicker which is exactly the opposite what I would like. So have turned 1st and 2nd floor lockshields down. Much better now...
New house new Ariston A30 MFFI combi-boiler fitted.
4 rads downstairs - cloak hall lounge x 2
5 rads 1st floor - 2 beds bath ensuite hall
1 rad 2nd floor - bed
Anyone know why the engineer would leave a system with them all wide open. Is this best practice now?
Thanks - from muddled
My A30MFF1 boiler has a 15mm water supply pipe to it (there is 25mm blus poly to the house)
Is this big enough?
Behind the 15mm cold supply pipe valve to the boiler there is a copper elbow. On this elbow a 10 or 12mm stub has been soldered or brazed
Is that a standard fitting and will...
Has anyone any views about radiator end grilles and trims? I am wondering if it best to leave them off?
Plus my radiators have locksheild valves with draindown cocks on them. There does not seem to be a way to open or close the locksheild. There is just a nozzle sticking out plus the usual...
On top of the plastic casing of the heat exchanger there is a rubber pipe on the end of a nipple.
How far does this need to be undone to bleed air from the system? I have tried 180 degress but no air or water comes out. There is currently just over a bar showing on the pressure gauge if it...
Not meaning to hijack this thread
Where a wooden window sits on a concrete lintel - when viewed from outside - there is a gap of 1 - 3mm
should this gap be sealed with mastic or not?
Thank you
If anybody in North Devon has any 100mm stainless flexible flue liner offcuts of 500mm or more I would be pleased to buy them from you. I intend to join them to a rigid 100mm pipe.
Thank you
Hello everyone.
I need to fix a pigsear handrail up my stairs.
Question:
Is it possible to make a neat joint where the wall of the satirs does a 90 degree turn and continues upwards?
Thank you for any advice you can offer
Thanks - an electrician fitted it as new house
Checking Silavent website it states only suitable up to 2 metres of ducting.
Is there a building regulation that this contravenes as the fans do not remove the smells?
thanks for that - will do in future
there is no wind the shutter opens about 20mm any wind and the shutter does not open.
I seem to rember reading that hose length on axis type fans should not exceed 2 metres

sorry my mistake
The electrician was quoted as saying "the back draught shutter does not need to open"
