Boiler Options for low flow rate mains

I did wonder about an accumulator but I'm not too sure how this would help - can any of you experts give us a quick run down of what an accumulator can do?

Boiler Options for low flow rate mains

I may have somewhere else to put the cylinder. You've got me thinking now. Any thoughts on whether I can use a combi with a vented cylinder. I thinking of getting a combi installed but then converting to a traditional system when demands increase as kids grow up! Or would I have to change the...

Boiler Options for low flow rate mains

I've had a couple of guys advise me and one said he would install a combi the other said I should go for a megaflow but I've since measured the flow and all agree this rules out a megaflow unless I upgrade the mains. I've looked into this and it's very expensive so I'm wondering if I can get...

Boiler Options for low flow rate mains

I want to put it all in the loft so I can free up the airing cupboard for a shower. Trouble is that my loft doesn;t have a great deal of height so I probably need a horizontal cylinder if it's vemted. I would put a megaflow in but from my limited understanding it's not worth it because I can...

Boiler Options for low flow rate mains

I'm getting myself all confused. Can you guys give me the benefit of your experience. I have an inlet flow rate of 14l/min - don't know the pressure. I want to be able to run a shower and maybe a bath at the same time but this isn't essential. I just don't want to have the shower fizzle out if...

Megaflow - is there any point?

I am looking to replace my boiler with either a combi or a megaflow. The main problem I have is that the mains pressure only provides about 14L/min. Does this mean that I may as well have a combi because I won't get any benefit from the megaflow?

Combi Boiler compatibility with water softener

I am looking to replace my boiler with a combi. However because the water supply is very hard I currently have a water softener. Are water softeners compatible with combi boilers or do they affect the flow rate of water to the boiler?

    Replacement for Old Shower Hose

The fitting that I purchased is not the right size. Is it possible to get one that reduces down to fit my old shower attachment. Hopefully you will be able to see from the image in my plumbing album that the fitting I have is way too big to fit in to the old shower head. I have photo'd it with...

    Replacement for Old Shower Hose

Is there more than one standard diameter for replacment hoses. I guess what you are saying is cut the old inner tube and use the old fittign as a connector between the new hose and old tap /shower. I have another shower in the house and having tried it with the hose from that is doesn't work...

shower pump failing to pump hot water

My shower pump is installed in my airing cupboard which is next to my bath/shower. The pump is connected to the hot water cylinder via a flange at the top of the cylinder. The hot water pressure is pretty feeble at the best of times but intermitently the hot water doesn't come through at all...

    Replacement for Old Shower Hose

I have an old bath tap/shower mixer unit. the hose to the shower head is split and I need to replace it. However all the hoses that I see have different fittings. My hose has male fittings on both ends whereas all the new ones seem to have female fittings. I have a picture on my old hose in my...

Digging up concrete floor to reduce height for parquet floor

I don;t know what adhesive I'm going to use. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. The blocks are reclaimed and so have the dreaded bitumen on the back. If I can avoid having to scrape this off then great - is there an adhesive that copes with that?

Digging up concrete floor to reduce height for parquet floor

you are probably right. It would be a lot of money. Can I stick mahogany parquet tiles (9"x3" x 3/4") directly on to the concrete floor?

Digging up concrete floor to reduce height for parquet floor

Hi guys, I have an existing parquet floor which I would like to extend in to my hallway. The trouble is that the hallway floor (carpet on top of concrete) is already level with the parquet (the concrete is level with it - carpet on top) and I don't really want different levels when I lay the...
