I am looking to replace my boiler with a combi. However because the water supply is very hard I currently have a water softener. Are water softeners compatible with combi boilers or do they affect the flow rate of water to the boiler?

check with makers as some do not like the primary side being filled with softened water, WB & Ideal for deffo.

From what I gather on here, Ideal boilers aren't too keen on any type of water going into them anywhere
