    It is a bathroom and the walls with the tiles on are P/board dot and dab on main wall along length of bath and stud across top end of bath. Guess I'll just have to see how it goes, I'll be tanking the walls inside the the shower cubicle so if worst comes to worst, I'll rip em out and redo...

    Thanks guys, dont want a floor covered in poo. Ive found I can work round it (just) with a little rerouting and strange studwork construction (verticle studs on wall then horizontal on top of them)

    Sorry about the confusion guys - it was a warm front grant ant the installer did indeed fit TRVs to all but one (regs) and fit a room stat. Yet to see it as she lives darn sarf but she is seems happy with it, just not the creeking chipboard flooring after it was lifted and then put back down...

    Achieving joist depth

    Am I right in thinking that the correct joist depth for a room must be 8". My loft joists are only 6" and I was wondering if I could lay 2x4 or 2x2 across these at 90 degrees giving the cross points 8" depth.
