    Concrete garage roof

Hi, I have a 12x24 concrete panel garage (concrete post and board type) and i'd like to convert the rear 10ft into a home office. Firstly though i'd like to put a proper roof on it. It's currently a low pitched roof supported by steel trusses with onduline panels. These are ok but dont...

    extension costs shell only

How do you go about organising the trades then? Do you mean because it rarely goes to plan that you need a really good relationship (which only develops over time) with all the individuals/trades because you have to say although you planned to get peter the plumber to arrive on friday and...

    extension costs shell only

So reading between the lines, from what you've said, if you know how to manage things and organise work and people its logical to conclude that you can reduce costs, perhaps not to the extent a good pro would be able to (due to discounts) but otherwise it would be worth it.

Why a premium? Surely a builder will quote and build on shell only basis, the internal fit out is nothing to do with them so why should they have an interest in making money out of it...

Hi, I've got a couple of questions relating to replacing my garage which i wonder if anyone could help me with. Currently i have a large single concrete panel garage resting on a fairly thick slab (sloped ground from side to side so it varies from 8" to 30" depth). Dimensions of existing...

    Bow Window replacement

Thanks, I'll look into it - i know it would both look nicer and be more environmentally sound, though i'm concerned it'll be about twice the price, thats what i'm more concerned about really. I'd go all wood if i could, the rear half of the house though has fairly new pvc units, which is a shame...

    Bow Window replacement

Hi guys, I'm looking to get some new windows for my two bay/bow windows. I'm trying to understand if as i've been told by window salesmen that it's best to replace the whole lot including struts (the vertical wood between the units) or just replace windows/frames. The window is not load...

    Boron based wood treatments

Hi guys, I'm looking to treat my new shed and soon to be constructed kids playhouse. I've been looking at the toxicity of all the treatments, none make it clear but having looked around came across the boron based ones. Wykabor makes various types and there is one called Ecosote as well...
