    Gap above patio door

Hello all New build: there is a gap along the entire length of the patio door sill - about 5mm, below the door frame. I know that there are slots on the top surface of the frame for water run-off, but is this long gap necessary / correct? Thank you

How should a new EV charger be connected (Ed.)

Thank you all. It still seems very murky and it be easier not to buy the property. I know that someone said there might be a clean cable route out from the CU. I attach a plan of the house. The cloakroom is tiled so routing through the room is not desireable.

How should a new EV charger be connected (Ed.)

….thank you! Do the regs state that’s it needs to be connected back to the CU? The issue to me would be that the CU is in the middle of the house and getting the cable outside would be messy and the cable would be visible in the living room or hallway

How should a new EV charger be connected (Ed.)

Hi all. I’m moving into a new Bellway house. Can a car charger be connected directly to the meter on the outside wall or would it have to be connected to the CU located in the middle of the house? There are many conflicting opinions.

    Outside tap not working

Am I missing something? Inside: stopcock-type tap then straight pipe to outside tap. I took the top part off the tap and still no water. Could there be anything in between the stopcock and the tap? It used to work. The house <2years old. See pic

    Mixer shower leaking

Hi all. This is leaking from behind the ‘tap’ shown above. It leaks in front and behind the plate. The tap will not pull in front of the brass fitting so I am guessing the tap was added before the brass part. Is there any way to get the brass spindle off so I can see if anything can be...

    Solar panel query

Hello . I have moved into a new house which has 3 solar panels. The site manager didn’t know much about them. I know the power generated is not stored in a battery so I wondered how the panels contribute to offset my energy usage and if the contribution is just a token gesture. I attach a pic...

Shower trap… does this look right?

Hello all. Could you advise me on this please? I moved into a new build recently. 14 showers later the water has stopped draining away. In my last house the shower had a ‘trap’ but this one is literally a big silver cap sitting over a hole. It looks unfinished. I have very short hair but my...

    Isolation valve bore flow restriction?

Hello. I have got to fit mono-bloc flexi’s to a 15mm pipe. It seems that a flat faced isolation valve will do the trick: 1) in a review someone voiced a concern that if it was not ‘full bore’ it would restrict water flow. Is this true and if so, is there such a thing as a full- bore flat faced...

    New tap connector question

Hi all. Simple question for plumbers no doubt: I bought a new mono block tap thinking I could easily swap it out. Unfortunately the old tap flexi hose terminates into a nut and olive around standard 15mm pipe meaning that the thread on the old hose was male. The thread on the new hose is...

    2 inches short

Thanks to all. After much contemplation in B&Q I finally bought a solvent weld coupler and 3m of 32mm pipe. Crazy that I had to buy 3m but only needed 35mm. Anyway, i stuck the coupler on the nubbin sticking out of the wall and bridged the gap to the compression on the u-bend with the 35mm pipe...

    2 inches short

Well, as much as I like the gaffa tape idea for its cost and simplicity given that I’m not a Plumber and all, I think Hugh’s idea might give me less grief from the missus, long term. I wondered if could use a short piece of pipe and use a collar and glue to connect to the bit in the wall? The...
