Hi all, I helped a friend install a new shower. 7.8-8.5kW. 6mm cable (already there), new 40A MCB + 30ma RCD pod (effectively an RCBO). Just got a text to say it's tripping. It trips after being on for a few minutes. In theory, the cable should be good for 46A. He said it did not run...

...I've beem looking on line. I can't see what I want on the usual sites - TLC/Screwfix/RS etc.

....thanks Eric. Max load will be 36A. The 6mm cable can take up to 46A I reckon. There are no de-rating factors and the run <5m. ...just a bit shocked by the price. ...coljack - if quality is variable, I don't think I'll bother with ebay - thank you anyway.

Hi All, I'm replacing a shower and need to upgrade the 32A MCB to a 40A RCBO. CU=Memera 2000 (MEM) I was just quoted £69 + VAT for a 40A MCB and RCBO pod (£80.73), by Edmundson (inclusive of a 20% discount). Is there an alternative? Where is the cheapest place to purchase...

LOL - oh. NO - the cupboard containing the CU is directly below the bathroom. Th CU is at ceiling height in the cupboard. Cable goes up into floor then is plastered into wall in airing cupbord and makes a 6-inch apearance before going through wall into shower. No markings are visable...

OK, thanks, So - use a stand-alone RCD - 40A+, connected to a 40A MCB. Cable-run is only short through non-insulating material <5m. So, if it's 6mm, should be OK. ...what is the d'oh refernce?
