    O-ring or fibre washer?

Thanks all, I discovered a label on the tank saying use the o ring (RTFI), and rang Tesla , - immersion maker not the car maker - who agreed that I should use the o- ring. Its got two chances! Thanks again.

I am replacing my leaking hot water cylinder with a stainless steel one. The immersion heater came with a fibre washer, and the tank came wth an o-ring. Any recommendations as to the best one to use? TIA

Thanks, I've had a Solar iBoost since they became available, and yes, I am well aware of the financials.

    Indirect Hot water tank failure

I forgot to ask, as there is a wide variation in prices for these, is it a case of, you get what you pay for, or will one from the well known DIY store do just as well?

    Indirect Hot water tank failure

Thanks very much, very useful. Regarding solar, as we use more electricity in the evening, most of my 4Kw array feeds back into the grid during the day. I am paid just under 4p per Kw for a 'deemed' figure of 50% of generated solar to the grid, but my leccy friend who fitted them, and his own...

    Indirect Hot water tank failure

Hi guys, I have a 12 year old indirect 120L HW tank, 1040mm x 400mm, that has failed internally such that the CH water is leaking into the hot water supply. Is this sort of failure common? Secondly, are all the pipe connections of similar size tanks in the same place? Also what is the largest...

    Draughty Patio Doors

Further on the post. The temperature yesterday outside was -7C, and when I measured the air temp with a handy gizmo I bought a year or so ago, with the room temp at +19C, the temp adjacent to the bottom of the fixed frame was 0C! And the air midway up next to the join with the slider was +11C. I...

    Draughty Patio Doors

Thanks very much, that is what I expected. The company has been to fix it, claiming that the overlap of the doors is correct, although I said I did not believe it. They have removed doors and refitted, now with minimal overlap, however there is still a draught from both places. I am now told...

    Draughty Patio Doors

My apologies, I posted this first in Building in error. I have recently had new Halo sliding patio doors fitted. There is a draught under the fixed portion of the door, which the company claim is inevitable due to drain holes in the frame. There is also a draught from the joint between the two...

Not correct, refer to my answers 18 and 21. Our normal engineer, who is Gas safe, is visiting next week.

    Gas pressure drop

So please clarify, are gas regulations relating to the pressure drop as in my OP governed by law or not? That is why I asked my original question, as I am concerned that we are operating within the law.

    Gas pressure drop

Are you suggesting that while this problem may not comply with gas regulations, it is not necessarily breaking any law? If so, I am surprised, I had always assumed that such regulations were mandatory in law.

    Gas pressure drop

Perhaps I should rephrase that. IIRC As Trustees we are expected to comply with any regulations which may apply to the operation of the Village Hall Charity.
