Thanks all, I discovered a label on the tank saying use the o ring (RTFI), and rang Tesla , - immersion maker not the car maker - who agreed that I should use the o- ring. Its got two chances! Thanks again.

I'm replacing vented with vented, and am fitting a titanium immersion heater to the SS tank.

I am replacing my leaking hot water cylinder with a stainless steel one. The immersion heater came with a fibre washer, and the tank came wth an o-ring. Any recommendations as to the best one to use? TIA

To gas112: Does the absence of a response mean you don't know, or are just not willing to help?

So please clarify, are gas regulations relating to the pressure drop as in my OP governed by law or not? That is why I asked my original question, as I am concerned that we are operating within the law.

Are you suggesting that while this problem may not comply with gas regulations, it is not necessarily breaking any law? If so, I am surprised, I had always assumed that such regulations were mandatory in law.

Perhaps I should rephrase that. IIRC As Trustees we are expected to comply with any regulations which may apply to the operation of the Village Hall Charity.

I can see U6 and G4 numbers on the face, but find it difficult to make the volume up to 0.035m3.

We are concerned that as Trustees of a Charity we should act within the law.
