    summerhouse base not square.

Bit unsure about your reply as the whole post was about it not being perfectly square but whether the amount was deemed to within "tolerance"

    "tapping off" a garden feed

Thanks for the reply, yes I know that i need to do that but I am hoping I can know what to do prior to this ie if I run the 2.5 then I can physically run it down the garden and into the office during my office build. etc. regarding what you wrote does that only apply if you swap over the cu and...

    "tapping off" a garden feed

Sunray Thanks for that, but I presume the over riding factor for that is to have 6mm cable- if i stuck with the 2.5 could i run it from a breaker? I suppose its a case of buy new cable or buy a new cu for the summerhouse ( though, to be fair, I would use the old one in the office)

    "tapping off" a garden feed

Thanks harry is that armoured T&E as the other piece I have measures about 13mm (maybe less) but says 2.5mm. If the original cable is 6mm then I presume there would be no problem with changing the cu above to one with 3 breakers and having a 32a breaker to feed the office?

fitting a double glazed door in a summerhouse

Hi all Me again. I am building a summerhouse and due to the uneven ground we have lost about 200mm on height before we start. by the time I have laid the frame (4x2) 18mm osb on the floor, built the stud wall ( again using 4x2) a length of 4x2 to create a slope then 6x2 for the roof and 18mm...

    summerhouse base not square.

Why not My mistake the size is 4.6 x 2.4 so the diagonal should be 5.188 my measurements are 5.17.5 and 5.185 ( measured one handed so not mm accurate! so still 10mm out but I cant see that being too much of a problem Thanks for all your help

    "tapping off" a garden feed

    summerhouse base not square.

Hi all I have just finished building the base for my summerhouse. It is 4.7 m wide with a depth of 2.4m It is constructed using 4x2 with a centre joist running left to right in the middle and joists front to back on 500mm centres. I have just laid it down after fully constructing it ( joints...

    "tapping off" a garden feed

Thanks for the replies I am now wondering if its possible to put another breaker into the consumer unit and then run the swa from that to the office? It does mean a longer run but it saves splitting the cable and running it under decking etc

    "tapping off" a garden feed

That is a very good question I will have a look and see if I can measure the fitted one. The existing run is about 20m Which actually brings me to my next question. If the cable is of sufficient rating could the main breaker be swapped out for a 32a?

    "tapping off" a garden feed

Can I ask why is that. The main reason in installing the consumer unit was to be able to isolate the lights and power circuit and in the hope that should anything trip, then it will trip the board in the office rather than in the house. and since you have to "convert" swa to twin and earth at...

    "tapping off" a garden feed

Hi all I have a summerhouse at the end of the garden which has a power supply coming from the house via a 16a breaker and armoured cable leading to a consumer unit in the summerhouse. We are building a home office in the middle of the garden. I am hoping to run ( or rather have run) power to it...

    Insulating summerhouse (during build)

Notch, Many thanks for the reply. Would the cement boards not to the job of sheathing as well as cladding? I would definitely use strapping as well. I was thinking of using no more ply 18mm T&G to make the joins neater and stronger.

    Insulating summerhouse (during build)

The back end lol Actually What i was wondering was for the rear of the summerhouse rather than fix osb sheathing , membrane, then baton, then fit cladding could I just membrane on the frame, baton and then cement board (would use building straps for first rigidity) then I could just pain the...
