    What boiler?

So what would be a decent replacement boiler if it starts misbehaving? Thank you!

    What boiler?

Me again. Recently moved. House has Ideal Icos HE12 which, apparently, is pretty naff and unreliable (although working fine at mo). To plan ahead, if it starts popping its PCB, or whatever they do, what type of replacement would folks recommend? Thank you!

    Airlock?

Thanks both. After much sploshing and gurgling it's coming back. Thank you!

    Airlock?

Pump doesn't seem to operate without boiler kicking in too - unless I'm being very silly. I mean, turn wall thermostat up = nothing at pump. Turn thermostat up and boiler on = pump runs and boiler fires for short while. There has been some gurgles and success - I now have three radiators...

    Airlock?

Thanks again. OK, I'll try that. To confirm, I crank the lever over and fire up the boiler again? Then flip it back over to auto after airlock clears, if it does. And is there any mileage in shutting off downstairs TRVs to help give it more oomph upstairs?

    Airlock?

Hi and thanks for reply. Not manually opened motorised valves - didn't want to dig myself further into mire! However, the white plastic one in foreground has a manual lever at front which has no markings; another lever on left-hand side, marked A and B and another tiny lever on right, which I...

    Airlock?

As mentioned in an earlier thread we've just moved into a nine year old house and I've been draining the brown tar like substance from the heating system (See 'Flush' post a day or so ago). Things were going fine but the filling loop leaked badly from a valve spindle whenever I topped up the...

    Anyone?

    Flush?

Just moved into a nine year old house. It has a pressurised cylinder on landing and Ideal boiler Icos HE12 boiler in kitchen cupboard. Pipework's small bore. Bought a bleed key and tried a couple of rads and this is what's coming out - tarry stuff but no sediment. Is this rust or do some...

    Gas regulator outside inspection chamber

Always wondered what they were. All over a village in Lincs where I used to live.

    Thanks all.

    Wireless light switch

Thanks both. This must be it! (with red tracer to switch.) So I could wire it in here? All pretty neat wiring, you'll agree...

    Wireless light switch

Hi Andy You mean junction boxes? I have three at the back of the house but I thought a connection inside the garage would be weathertight. They're all on the same circuit. Is the conclusion that there is no wi-fi 'switch' suitable for this installation?

    Wireless light switch

Ah ok, didn't know about these. Just had a look at one of the lights, though, and the 'bulbs' seem part of the lamp, so I guess they're non exchangeable. Some are doubles too, with a bulb facing up and down, so I guess this would be pretty expensive if, in fact, I did manage to swap them. :-(

    Wireless light switch

What is this witchcraft you speak of? Would I have to replace all the external lights?

    Wireless light switch

OK, ta. This is the wiring inside garage to two of the lights (house has about eight of them). Could I tap into here?

    Wireless light switch

Ah so... Here is what I have.

    Wireless light switch

A conventional on-off light switch operates my outdoor lights but it's housed under the stairs and I want to remotely turn the power on from upstairs, or maybe with a phone app if I'm coming back late. Is this easily do-able? I have pretty solid broadband. I glanced on Amazon and saw this...
