    Noisy acoustic/intumescent gaskets

These are supposed to be "acoustic" seals as well as weatherproofing, so maybe he put them based on that.

    Noisy acoustic/intumescent gaskets

How do I ascertain which gaskets I need? It looks like he put whatever he had. I do have a rebate in the door stop to fit them, and I could do this on my own.

    Noisy acoustic/intumescent gaskets

My joiner installed these around my FD30 doors. The doors need to be pushed hard to close, otherwise they won't close. Also, when they open, they make a loud-ish noise like someone is removing a large sticker from the door, which is the plastic gasket detaching from the wooden door. Is this...

What type of brush to paint sash windows and architraves?

The joiners who installed my new timber sash windows used a makeup brush allegedly to minimise the brush effect that it could have on the wood. What would you suggest that I use for touch up? Should I go for a makeup brush or something like this? At the moment I'm only after painting a coat or...

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

I used to have a dehumidifier many years ago. I can't say I loved it as it's bulky and noisy, and expensive to run. I wouldn't want a humming in the middle of the night!

    Replacing dimmer with Hue dimmer

That's a very good suggestion, didn't think about it at all tbh. Thanks.

    Replacing dimmer with Hue dimmer

I have this old dimmer switch that I want to replace with a Hue dimmer. Obviously the lights should be "on" so that I can control them with the Hue switch. Can I just connect the two wires? Otherwise, what's the best way to install the Hue switch? Should I just leave the existing dimmer and...

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

That's what I was told too by the joiner. He sounded confident that it wouldn't happen though! I guess I'll have to wait a couple of weeks and see what happens.

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

I'm never convinced about these little things doing so much work as to remove all the condensation. They're in a corner and run quite low.

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

I have this. It's with a timer switch and a timer as well, through the wall to the outside.

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

I have the extractor switched off since it's quite noisy in my bedroom. Whilst on the subject, can anyone recommend an effective and quiet extractor or ceiling dehumidifier? From what I gather, humidity gets trapped between the window and the blind and just condenses where cold air comes in...

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

No, not yet, just finished the installation last week. But I was told that Fensa can just sign it off without a visit, or they might visit to inspect.

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

 I just had the fitted last week! I don't have any other ventilation system or airbrick, nor am I in a conservation area... I've got many quotes (10 or so) and none of the joiners mentioned that.

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

That makes sense, as most other shutters are open (no one is sleeping there) and hence much less condensation.

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

The weird part is that the condensation is only at the part where the sash windows meet. Also, I've been to places with aluminium windows or plastic sash windows and that doesn't happen. Hence my original question.

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

Huh...I never would have thought of that... For some reason, I thought draught and condensation went hand in hand.

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

Good to know that this is normal behavior. And also unfortunate. I thought I was done with condensation for good with the new windows! However, what you say makes sense, since this is the only room (plus its en suite bathroom) that gets condensation overnight. Do you have an example pic and...

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

No, I don't actually, as I was getting too much noise and I decided that I want a sealed window.

Is this amount of condensation right for new sash windows?

Just had my old single-pane timber sash windows replaced with new, double-glazed ones. I woke up to this amount of condensation, which is much better than the old crappy windows, but still, it can accumulate and build moisture etc. Is this right at the end of the day for new windows? Should I...
