    Edging grass with tiles

I did consider running a line of concrete but think that the concrete would have to be very deep to avoid it simply cracking, hence my idea about the long concrete posts. Any ideas for alternatives to edge the lawn to make them lawnmower friendly?

    Edging grass with tiles

I have dug a trench around my grass and shaped it so that I can line the edge with tiles. I have found some nice limestone based tiles and would like to install them around the edge to the same level so that when mowing I can mow right to the edge, however I don't want to go to the expense of...

    Grass drainage/muddy lawn

Initially, buy yourself a hollow aerator tool, use it over the entire lawn with it and dispose of the small bits of soil that it throws out - this will help drainage and might eventually be sufficient to solve your issue. I aerate my lawn with one of these every few feet or so, seems to have...

    Overboarding a Coved Ceiling

[/url] Unfortunately no, I found that thread before posting this one, it doesn't have pictures of the end result.

    Overboarding a Coved Ceiling

It's a pretty stupid system as it must be using IP addresses to check whether a user has visited already and exceeded the 'guest' count. Some ISP's are still using random IP addressing which means that upon each connection to the internet, you might get an IP previously used by someone else that...

    Overboarding a Coved Ceiling

Thanks all - so at present I'm considering this stuff: http://www.builderdepot.co.uk/speed-pro-514-3m-drywall-feature-bead-return-for-board-galvanised.html ...the main reason is that if I were to butt the boards up to the current coving, they'd be level with where the coving starts to...

    Overboarding a Coved Ceiling

That's a rather nice idea actually, it avoids messing around with plasterboard beads and can also be applied after the ceiling has been reboarded and skimmed! I'll look into this, thanks!

    Overboarding a Coved Ceiling

Already reviewed this prior to posting here, it didn't answer the queries that I have posed.

    Overboarding a Coved Ceiling

Hi all, I have a ceiling which has coving already fitted, it's a lathe and plaster ceiling and unfortunately has now started to crack and sag fairly badly. My plan is to overboard with large and staggered 9.5mm plasterboard sheets. I have identified the joist locations on either side of...

Building Decking down a concrete slope

Yeah, I totally accept what you're saying, its going to be a pain and your suggestion might be the way that I have to go, for now I've put this onto the backburner, I'll revisit another day :) Thanks for your suggestions, I'll update this thread in the next year or so with how I went forward...

Building Decking down a concrete slope

Ok - so back to the core structure, how would you support the decking on this slope? Is my idea feasible or is there a better route?

Building Decking down a concrete slope

Concrete can absorb water and so I would want to avoid penetration of water from concrete to the wooden supports.

Building Decking down a concrete slope

I really don't like the look of the concrete nor the slope itself as it is dangerous, particularly when it snows. Lots of people have decking steps and so long as they're regularly cleaned/pressure-hosed, they're not too slippy. I could also apply a non-stick surface to them.

Building Decking down a concrete slope

In my front garden, I have a concrete slope with which there is not much that I can do without a lot of expense to remove it. Therefore, to 'pretty it up' I intend to build some decking steps down the slope and panel off the exposed side. My plan is to use 2-4 (depth) decking strips per...

    LED Under Kitchen Unit Lights

Personally, I didn't bother buying the LED strip itself from an internet shop as they're so overpriced, I used Amazon instead. I ended up buying the following, and I'm really happy with all of it, its brilliant! TRANSFORMER: 200W model...

Garage Electrics provided by downstairs mains ring

Bit of an old thread but I'm considering finally sorting out these garage electrics. As a reminder, previously my kitchen ring circuit had a spur which went to an FCU, and then out to the garage via armoured cable. I wasn't particularly happy with this arrangement, despite the very low power...
