dirt and air in system (Meme21)

Following all the problems I had with being left with a dirty system following a the new boiler installation, I got another RGI in to do a power clean of the system. He was very good and thorough, not just doing the power clean but taking some of the radiators off the cleaning them separately...

Thermostatic rad valve won't turn off/down

What Nige F says is what I have always been told and should be what is tried first. However, I find that from time to time the TVRs just 'go'. Don't really know the reason for this. I have a couple of radiators at the moment that are just blazing away because the TVRs won't turn down, but the...

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

:) The original RGI who installed the boiler got very stroppy with me because "I asked questions". He really didn't like it. Example of question: Q. "Southern Gas have said they have done everything they can do and have fitted the largest pipework they can but you say you still can't...

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone on this Forum for all the very valuable information and advice given to me since my central heating system became a problem. I have learned so much and it has really opened my eyes. I have found a Gas Safe Registered engineer that has been recommended...

    Just a quick question

Can the RGI's on this board give me a rough idea of how much you would expect to pay for power flushing of a system with 22 radiators. Thanks :D

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

Thank you JohnD for that very comprehensive list of instructions. I will try it out next week. :) twgas - I have had a WB technician out to look at the boiler and he was happy that it had been correctly installed. He was a bit perplexed by the flue as it has a few angles, but he said...

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

Hi Tony - yes my installer was rather lacking and not particularly pleasant. Problems I now have: 1. A lot of air gurgling through the system, towel rails are very noisy due to the air - need venting daily. 2. Noisy pump (at least I think it's the pump, the noise is louder in downstairs...

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

The installer quoted to supply and fit 40cdi boiler, fit new flue, do pipework, fit wireless thermostat, flush radiators (but this wasn't a powerflush) and fit a Magnaclean. Really don't want to go back to fitter and would rather get someone else in.

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

OK - just had RGI no 3 out (and before anyone says anything I offered to pay him for coming out - especially as he cleaned my Magnaclean - he accepted but didn't charge very much) Anyway, advice would be useful as to which option to go for RGI No 1 says, automatic non return valve needed...

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

I just wish someone would give me a quote over the phone. All I have done is phone some engineers, tell them the problem and they then say they will come over and have a look and give me an estimate. Surely it is up to them to suggest a call out fee if they have one not for me to offer to...

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

kevindgas - my daughter is down in southampton at the moment so I know just how far the journey is :) The boiler is a conventional boiler not a combi. As far as I am aware the radiators are all on one circuit. They were all fine before the new boiler was fitted so not sure why they should...

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

I am quite happy to pay what is required if need be for advice. I have asked for opinions and estimates to fix the problems which is all I want. Have always been told to get several estimates for any work, and this time round I am being a little more cautious. I have not been asked for...

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

I am running 22 radiators over two floors. Since the boiler was fitted I have two radiators in my living room, one in a bedroom and a t'd off radiator below the bedroom in a bathroom that are taking over an hour to start to heat up. Once they heat they are much cooler at the bottom. My pump...

That's what I thought. I don't understand why it is now lit up. :?

eco button worcester bosch 40cdi conventional boiler

Hi - wonder if someone can give me a bit of information. Following a visit from a W Bosch technician today the 'eco' button on my 40cdi conventional boiler (not combi) has been lit up. When I look this button up in the manual it just says 'not applicable'. It wasn't lit before the visit, it...

dirt and air in system (Meme21)

Thanks  Well at least I have a good pressure and the boiler is ok. Just need a few other problems sorting out now - couple of radiators not heating and need bigger pump. Hopefully will soon all be sorted.

Can't get boiler commissioned (low gas pressure)

Very interesting today. I called out W Bosch to confirm that gas pressure and everything was now ok (front of boiler needed changing anyway because it wouldn't shut). Apparently I have much greater gas pressure than I need despite being told by the fitter that the pressure was border line...
