    No venting on soil stack

Fair enough! I haven't noticed any problems in the few months we have been here but this would have been Installed 2001. Regards might have been different then I also have to figure out how to add another toilet adjacent to existing WC. My thoughts were to replace end of run with double...

    @Hugh Jaleak Very simple diagram..

    No venting on soil stack

Straight through the external wall in to the WC. I'll get some pictures

    No venting on soil stack

Hey guys, I've been taking down the ceiling in the downstairs kitchen to access the existing basin/shower/bath waste run to the stack in order to relocate it. The soil pipe for the WC runs parallel to the existing waste just above it. I've finally got an unobstructed view of the entire soil...

    Ply thickness for tiling

I've gone 25mm in the end @foxhole. Even with 18mm + backer I'd have been at 24mm. The show tray is pretty hefty so probably for the best it'll be absolutely solid surface although the additional weight does concern me a little!

Compression isolating valves and plastic pipe

Ah good, I picked up a few full bore valves just incase as well the the *standard* inserts for the pipe (not the ones with the extra O ring that I use for normal connections)

    Waste Pipe Diameter

@durhamplumber thanks I've read it but I'm not finding it clear what happens > 4m run. 50mm waste? AAV? Or is it not recommended at all? Want to be as compliant as possible but this is an old cottage... Some compromises have to be made I've got limited access and s really bad original first fix

Compression isolating valves and plastic pipe

Is it preferable to use push fit isolating/service valves when using plastic or can normal brass fittings be used? Or is it better to switch to copper at the WC/basin/shower? I have a little access hole where I'm planning on putting 4 valves for two showers on the off chance one of them needs...

    Waste Pipe Diameter

Unfortunately the waste runs through the webbing of an RSJ so no real option here to run a separate branch other than to make sure its 50mm up to the Tee for the bath/shower .

    Waste Pipe Diameter

@muggles So I'd be looking at: Basin - 40mm + AAV + 2.5m run to outside where it will increase to 50mm (3m run to stack) Shower - 40mm + 2m run to Tee (bath) + 0.2m run to outside where it will increase to 50mm and join basin branch (1.8m run to stack) Bath - 40mm + 1m run to Tee (shower) +...

    Waste Pipe Diameter

Looks like I'll need to install AAV as well then as the new basin location means a run down the joist of 2.5m, then a run of 3m (externally) back to the stack

    Waste Pipe Diameter

Thanks for the heads up! Do you have a link to the regs? I'll familiarise myself with them. Annoyingly Screwfix doesnt stock alot of 50mm pipe fittings so will have to look elsewhere.

    Ply thickness for tiling

@foxhole seems sourcing 22mm ply is going to be an issue as well!

    Waste Pipe Diameter

Hey guys, I've got an existing branch using 50mm waste pipe running externally in to the stack and reducing to 40/40/32 inside for shower/bath/basin I'm moving the basin which basically means I'm replacing the entire branch as the basin is going to sit another 1.2m further away from the stack...

    Ply thickness for tiling

@Lower I try to avoid tiling on ply to be honest! 22mm ply would provide a very stable surface (i've got a 1200mm x 800mm stone resin shower tray to go down and its quite heavy) I've had to sister the joists at the end of the spans, as well as noggins every 600mm and extra around where the...

    Ply thickness for tiling

Would the cement board not counteract this? The main issue is going to "large" step from hallway 22mm (current level) + 6mm cement board + 5mm adhesive + 10mm tile = 21mm raise

    Ply thickness for tiling

@foxhole I think you misunderstood. The floorboards are fecked, so being wholey replaced but im not sure whether I should use 18mm or 22mm. I'll be putting 6mm NMP or hardiebacker down to tile on. There are no literally horizontal supports, and some pretty hefty notches near the end of the...

    Ply thickness for tiling

Hey guys, I'm taking up all the 22mm floorboards from the bathroom and wondering what to replace them with. The joists span 2.5m, and are at 420mm centers (120yr old house). I'm planning on overboarding with 6mm No more ply. The hallway (which will lead in to the bathroom) has french oak...

    Replacing old floorboards

Closer inspection reveals some historic woodworm at the very least, few boards particularly bad at the edges of a few boards so I think it'll be best to take them all up The new joists (circa 17 years old) look to be free of any woodworm evidence so its unlikely there is a current infestation...

    Replacing old floorboards

Hey guys...120 year old house but I suspect floorboards to be about 60 years old. In process of rejigging the bathroom Ive just had the mega flo moved to accommodate an ensuite and its left me with a few broken and loose floorboards. Ill be taking up a few more to run the new pipework for the...
