Good news! Error codes cleared and can arm the system again Only issue is date and time on the keypads have reset and I suspect I can't change them without the operators code.

Cheers both, appreciate the advice/instructions. Ordered a replacement battery for £15. The one place that wanted to come and "service" it were quoting me minimum of £250 for an hr of their time. Eeesh!

Well I think they have built the cupboard around the unit...it was a ballache to get the cover off! I've found which spur it's on so can safely kill mains when replacing battery. Presume they have some flash memory to maintain setting? Hopefully I can do it tomorrow and report back

Ye it's not connected to anything! I've got all the manuals here with writing on them...but no engineers code :(

Pretty much what I thought. With regards to clearing error codes...is there a way without resetting the system?

Got the cover off and no tamper....can see a big old battery which costs about 15 quid. Any precautions for disconnecting it?

Aha, thats what I did, seeing if the keypad would "open". It didnt. It went off. Thats when I mashed the keys a bit before silencing it so I'll need to so a soft reset somehow to clear the code.

Originally it was Unit Low Batt, now its Keys Excessive (due to my ham fists). Are the control units tamper proof or can I safely unscrew and open?

Hey guys, Looks like no local installer is interested in touching the alarm system i've inherited (keep trying to upsell a new installation) so I'm wondering if theres a DIY option. Basically the keypad came up with Unit low battery which as I beleive (very much a novice in this area) means...

    Electric DPC

Cheers guys, I'll do the obvious thing (dig the soil down 6 inches) and if that doesnt work look at a more permanent solution!

    Electric DPC

We've been informed by the former vendors of our new house that part of the property (dating back to 1900) has an electric DPC. Firstly, until now I had never heard of it. It would have been installed 2000/2001. I viewed the house several times and did not notice any damp patches on the wall...

Replacing Storage Heaters with Panel Heaters

Ye plain old E7! We used to rent a house in the village with LPG - never again it was ****ing extortionate! Looked at oil a couple of years ago but i'd never make it back as its our first house and will likely move next year or two. Bit of discipline with timers and I think we can make...

Replacing Storage Heaters with Panel Heaters

Unfortunately we're off grid! We wont be here long enough to invest in a better heating solution. I get all my wood free so that makes a big difference over winter :) The heaters will only be on for a couple of hrs a day most days so like you say it will probably work out about the same if not a...

Replacing Storage Heaters with Panel Heaters

Replacing Storage Heaters with Panel Heaters

So with regards to the final heater - can I replace the double socket with a single socket (never use the other one anyways) and a 13A FCU? 7A should be OK on the ring circuit

Replacing Storage Heaters with Panel Heaters

Done. All good so will just pop a terminal block in there and put a label on the flex Of course. We have a wood burner thats on most of the winter (5kW). This is mainly for background heating and occasionally when we dont put it on. The problem with the storage heaters are that during the...

Replacing Storage Heaters with Panel Heaters

Yes thats been considered and already done so the old board is no longer using the timer! Changing tariff is in progress :) I figured that was the case with the pilot wire - I wish they would make the instructions more explicit although I guess this keeps them from being liable :) If I plugged...
