Just a query really, if two outside lights are fed from the fuse box via a B6 MCB is there any requirement for a fused spur or any type of isolator?

    Consumer unit repair

Hi, I have just bought a new consumer unit from ebay that was advertised as brand new. Upon opening it I have discovered that 60% of the insulation has been broken off the brown copper lead coming from the main switch to the RCD resulting in bare copper showing. The seller wont refund me or...

    Volt Free Contacts

Hi, I have a boiler that has "volt free contacts" for the thermostat. I need to relocate it to another room and try not to disturb our decor... Seen as they are volt free is it acceptable to use wire such as alarm cable and run it under carpets etc? or does it still need twin and...

Would not want to anyway. I can get hold of the equipment to crimp 16mm as we use them at work for building control panels. but 16mm crimps are uninsulated... I assume you can just tape it up with insulation tape?

    Earth Cable

Hi, I have just put a new cabinet around my consumer unit and moved the consumer unit up the wall slightly to accommodate the cabinet door. The problem now is that the main earth cable (16mm) is too short and there is no way to replace it as it comes direct from the incomer and that is...

Ahh I see, that makes perfect sense. I suppose a fire rated fitting in a none fire rated ceiling that has insulation in it would have some benefit though? :)

    Is there anything like this?

My kitchen is in the cellar of a 3 story house, I was under the impression that where ever there is another room above or means of escape (front door is above my kitchen) then fire rated down lights are required. I was looking in to fitting fire hoods to my existing GU10 fittings (convertor...
