    Re-pointing required?

Is it just the front that needs re-pointing, or should I be concerned about the brick/render junction also? Thanks, Richard.

    Re-pointing required?

Thanks for the reply. I don't need to worry about lime content/mortar type then, or is that only for much older properties? Is it worth getting someone in who knows what they are doing, or is it relatively straightforward? Cheers, Richard.

    Re-pointing required?

By the way - apologies the photos aren't the right way round - I had to post in a rush, due to a 2-week old in the house!

    Re-pointing required?

Hello all, Would like some advice as to whether this section of my house needs re-pointing - I've taken a couple of pics of the front right corner (from front), also a couple just round the corner from there where the bricks meet the render - the house is 42 years old. I suspect those...

    Damaged Rear Fire Surround

Hello all, I've managed to knock a piece of the rear of my fire surround off (I won't bore you with how I managed this) - so my questions are: 1) Would it still be safe to operate? 2) Would I be able to replace the rear section, i.e. without having to buy an entire new fire? Regards...

    Corrugated Bitumen

I think the way it's been built is just as you describe - it's a custom built "shed", but placed against the house (with some light weatherproofing), rather than attached to it. It certainly doesn't seem attached in the manner than typical conservatories usually are. Re: flashing, how deep...

    Corrugated Bitumen

Hello all, My new house has a "summer house" out the back, the roof has started leaking a bit so given the condition of the roof, I've decided to look at recovering options, currently I like the look of corrugated bitumen - looks a bit more robust than felt? I've added some photos below so...

    Cracked Drain

Ok, thanks all. I guess that I need to get this sorted then?!

    Cracked Drain

Sorry to be thick, but can you clarify exactly what bits the gulley (the cracked visible bit, I'm guessing), trap and hopper head are?

    Cracked Drain

Sorry, this did seem the most appropriate forum but I'll look at that forum for similar topics in future. How can you tell that the damage is recent, just in case I'm challenged on this? (I think it is because the cracks don't look aged in any way [plus there has been recent work there!]...

    Blocking a chimney

I meant it's highly unlikely I'll remove the chimney, but despite the misunderstanding, your explantion was good info :) Given the responses here (thanks, all), I'll forget the chimney removal idea - as I said, it was just a thought really, I was never likely to actually do it.
