how to tighten up tap spindle on monobloc bathroom tap

Done it! I used a small rubber band wrapped around the end of the tap a couple of times to get a grip and the cap came off. Bolt all tightened up now. I'm happy. Thanks guys!

how to tighten up tap spindle on monobloc bathroom tap

Now you've mentioned it, I can see a thin peripheral line around the tap handle at the end, as your diagram suggests. But how to stop the Stanley blade from chipping away the chrome plate? I've tried pressing the blade in gently and am in danger of the blade slipping off and cutting me, if not...

how to tighten up tap spindle on monobloc bathroom tap

It's a ceramic tap. (Trafalgar Serie 4 Basin). The handle and the tap rock together. The handle and spindle look like a single casting, unless the handle is an interference fit onto splines. There is no grub screw.

how to tighten up tap spindle on monobloc bathroom tap

The spindle on the hot water tap of my monobloc bathroom mixer tap is loose (though only two years old!!), but there are no drips. If I unscrew the casing (see attached photo--the tap is in front of a mirror, by the way), I can see a large nut (about 18mm A/F). Is this what needs to be...

how to lubricate a monobloc tap

The reason I had to tighten up a monobloc tap in a previous post is that the mixer spout is rather stiff in the housing and continually moving it out of the way of the plug and then back again caused the whole unit to loosen! Yes, I know now to hold the the unit in place with one hand before...

monoblock basin tap on TC Bathroom unit

All done. I bought a 10mm/11mm box spanner (on line, as it happens) that is only 4" long. It fitted in the gap and so it was all a doddle, five minutes work! Thanks for your interest.

monoblock basin tap on TC Bathroom unit

I haven't had time yet to address this issue, ie dismantle the pipework. But...... the box spanner I bought (a monobloc set) is just too long to fit vertically over the nut. The other box spanners I have (normal length) are BA ones and annoyingly, the 0BA one is just fractionally smaller than...

monoblock basin tap on TC Bathroom unit

After taking the drawers out and looking up to see where I have to tighten, I now discover that the monobloc box spanner I bought is too long to fit in the space between the basin waste pipe and the nut! The waste pipe is connected to the final outlet pipe in the wall by a series of small...

monoblock basin tap on TC Bathroom unit

Two years ago I had a TC Bathroom suite installed in my upstairs bathroom. It includes a Trafalgar basin and Serie 4 monoblock basin tap. The tap unit has worked a little loose and I seek to tighten it up. By removing the drawer fronts I can look up underneath and with a mirror, I see the...

Many thanks for your advice. I've painted the doors now (I used Ronseal wood filler) and they all look good! 8)

I need a putty suitable for gloss paintwork

This isn't the best picture because of the light but you can see my problem if you click on the picture. The valley is on the left of the picture, running vertically, about half an inch wide and half a millimetre deep. That doesn't sound much but still a paint coat won't fill it! Would wood...

I need a putty suitable for gloss paintwork

I've removed the beading from some attic doors because I wanted a clean flush look before I painted them. However some old paint came away with them. Although I've rubbed down the doors ready for the new gloss paint, I can still see where the beading was because the paint layers on either side...

grey wall plaster showing through the new coats of paint

Sorted!!!! I put two further coats of paint on anyway (I had a schedule to keep) and the grey patches disappeared once the paint dried. I was worrying for nothing. Silly me.

grey wall plaster showing through the new coats of paint

I recently had a new kitchen fitted. It links up with a hallway. There was previously wallpaper on all walls. The whole ceiling was replastered. The wallpaper was stripped off and the plasterer who did the ceiling put new plaster on the kitchen walls (where extra sockets had been fitted)...

does a new boiler mean new bathroom taps?

does a new boiler mean new bathroom taps?

I am thinking of having a new kitchen. The existing boiler (Ideal Mexico, annually serviced) which sits beside the kitchen sink is ten years old. Although I have no problems with it, the new kitchen will need a new boiler position, therefore perhaps a new boiler because of space restrictions. I...
