    Upgrade electric vehicle charger

I had an Ampera for six years. Excellent car. Would have bought another one if they had carried on making them. I changed to an ice car for a a few months whilst I waited for all the new EV's to appear, but of course most of the better ones are ridiculously expensive and / or have long delivery...

    Upgrade electric vehicle charger

Back in 2014 I bought a plugin hybrid vehicle which charged at a maximum rate of 10amp. I had a home charger installed which consists of a dedicated cable from the consumer unit, fed by a 16amp rcd. The cable then feeds directly to the outside wall where it terminates in a junction box which...

    Stop cock or gate valve.

I have an outdoor water tap with a gate valve indoors so that I can ensure that the water is turned off from indoors. The gate valve is leaking and wont tighten up any further, so I need to replace it. My question is, is there any difference between a stop cock and a gate valve and any...

    Vaillant Combi pressure loss.

???? How did you work out what I did and didn't do? I said I followed the procedure which commenced with draining the boiler. I'm now thinking an external low cost expansion vessel may be my best option until I get a new boiler installed.

    Vaillant Combi pressure loss.

Followed the procedure to re pressurise the ev and tried again but the pressure still rose to 3. So looks i need to get the engineer in to fit a new ev. Just curious, as the ev is behind the boiler, does this mean a removal of the boiler off the wall? If so, I guess it is a expensive job. I have...

    Vaillant Combi pressure loss.

I set the pressure to about 1.5 bar and fired up the boiler and it quickly rose towards 3 bar so I'm guessing its the expansion vessel?

    Vaillant Combi pressure loss.

Boiler is a Vaillant combi turbomax 824. Over last couple of weeks has been losing water pressure requiring a top up every few days. Have checked all radiators, taps and visible pipework, but no sign of any leaks. However most of the pipework is below floorboards so cant be checked. Is it...

    Mares tails, horse tails.

I have tried glyphospate but I'm not sure what strength it is. Another problem is that anything I use on public footpaths will need to be safe for animals. I'd hate to be killing off all the neighbours pets!

    Mares tails, horse tails.

Since I moved into my property several years ago i have been plagued by mares tail or horse tail weeds which are pretty much impossible to get rid of as they have roots going down around two metres. I've tried just about every type of weed killer some of which kill off the surface growth, but...

    Can I replace air pressure?

Ok I found the answer under DIY Gas. Guess I need to find another engineer.

    Can I replace air pressure?

Title should read air pressure switch. Couldn't figure out how to edit it. Boiler is a Vaillant Turbo max. Yesterday started failing to ignite and stayed at S3 then eventually S33 (Check fan / air pressure switch). Fired up ok this morning. Called out my heating engineer He said fan was...

    Would this be notifiable?

But would the FCU then have to be wired to the Consumer unit, thus making it a new circuit and requiring notification?

    Would this be notifiable?

Do you have a suggestion ? There has to be a way of disconnecting the power for cleaning purposes. Is it permissible to have a DP switched FSU in the bathroom? Any suggestions welcome.

New concealed cistern - poor flush

Don't they usually have an adjuster inside to control how much water is released. Mine can be adjusted between 6 and 7.5 litres on full flush, or half of this on a partial flush. I think it's usually just an adjustable screw.

    Would this be notifiable?

If you have ten minutes to spare, you can watch the installation video.

    Would this be notifiable?

Its teed off the water supply to the concealed cistern.

    Would this be notifiable?

It looks naff on the sketch but all the wiring is concealed as it's a concealed cistern behind a tiled wall.
