Because the roots don't just fan out horizontally - you just think you've got it and will it chuff shift - till you realise there's loads more roots heading straight down - arrrgh!!!

Why would I need resin cast? It's not an armoured cable. I can buy a IP66 junction box and stick it on the wall and it'll do the job of getting the cables connected. This unit, other than the connector blocks, seems to be pretty well made and good tight fittings and it's 'supposed' to be...

Good idea, I might try that. I did try crimping a spade connector to the cable but the ones I had were too big and not long enough. It is a crap design.
