Trying to fit a new door but any idea what is the cause of the door springing back? Like when you go to shut it it spings back open?

on the top it says "hc top" so is that the side the lock goes on? is there wood in the side where the lock goes where the other side is hollow?

Does it matter what side the hinges go on?

the thing is though the skirting board is 6 inches high so to tall for a mitre box, so used a silverline one but just broke while cutting makes it worse laying the skirting board down.

I've been trying to cut quite big skirting boards with a silverline mega box, however the box is crap and just brakes, the skirtings are to high for an ordinary mitre box However would this cut them at 45 degree angle...

Whats the best way to fit solid wood flooring? I've fitted laminate flooring before but the solid wood looks a lot different, should I glue the joints together? I can't glue the back of the boards as it will be on underlay. any advice would be appreciated.
