    Bathroom Refit

What memories...... Having a bath in an avocado suite-with the bath beginning to splinter and de-laminate, plastic splinters in your butt. Good luck on the re-vamp. B

    Water hammer on start up

Hoping you can help. In the last 10 days my central heating has started to water hammer at start up. It only happens once when the sysyem first kicks in after a period of being off for several hours. The heating is programmed to come on before the hot water. The water hammer is very much...

No hot water after draining CH

I'm pretty sure thats the case, the water in the CH is needed to heat the HW. You may want to think about turning off the boiler - i don't think i'd take the risk of even the pilot light running on a dry boiler. Immersion heater it is and watch that electricty meter spin. :) Buzzbob

No hot water after draining CH

Hi, This is my first reply to a help request and what i know i've learnt after playing with my own system so take my comments with a pinch of salt! On my system the CH circuit runs through the boiler through the rads and possibly through the boiler to heat the water there if the programmer...

    Venting a Grundfos

My Potterton Flamingo 40 boiler started kettling in the last week and (i think) i've traced the problem to a faulty Grundfos pump (15/50*18). Have swapped it over for a new 15/50 this morning. I've followed the instructions for bringing it online but all i got was a slight puff (!!!) from the...

    Down Pipe Shoe

Cheers-I've taken a knife to it and scraped off the years of paint and it's black underneath. It does join up with a stop end outlet so that would indicate it was part of a "system" rather than some old bit of pipe that was left over. I don't suppose anyone's got any ideas about stockists of...

    Down Pipe Shoe

It's a round pipe and i went and bought the only size available at Wickes but it was too big. I took it back and asked if they came any smaller but they didn't. I've since checked and they all seem to be quoted as having 68mm diameter (not sure if thats internal or external).

    Down Pipe Shoe

First of all, thanks to one and all for taking the time to offer help on this site. I'm in the middle of a bathroom re-vamp and have found alot of my questions answered. I thought i'd do a quick job today and buy a shoe for a downpipe. The external diameter is 62mm and internal is 58mm but i...
