    Sorrry, should have said it is a spur, don't know where from. Is it dangerous to join the cables with suitable connector block and then insulate it with tape and secure it to the stud partition behind the plasterboard? John

    Thanks for your reply, I actually want to move the socket to a different position and there's not enough free cable behind the wall. Is there any way to join a length of cable behind the plasterboard, the join would sit in the cavity. John

    Thanks for your reply. As an after thought, each of my new lamps are 50w and the original 120w, a total of 370w, would this be ok with the original switch? How difficult would it be to change the original light switch for a 2gang switch and have the lights switched seperately? John

    I have just bought a set of 5 mains voltage halogen down lighters 50w each. There's a L & N connection on each of the five lamps. I want to connect these into my kitchen but I want to keep the original ceiling light aswell. How do I wire these lamps in? Thanks John

    Disconnect roomstat

    I have a room stat attached to my central heating system and I have now fitted trv's so I would like to disconnect the room stat. Could anyone please advise me how this should be done? Thanks John
