    Planning for a porch

Hi all, I want to build a timber frame porch. It’s within 2 metres of the boundary and probably over 3sqm also so I need planning. Does anyone know what application I use? Looked on my local authority site and couldn’t see what I’d have to use. Any guidance will be appreciated

Replacement immersion heater for unvented cylinder (Ed.)

Seriously fella, have a day off. They are a unique size and I can’t find it so I’ve asked here. I’ve now asked in the combustion chamber where the comments are not all people trying to flex their muscles about being qualified. It’s so “bread and butter” that no one has been able to give me a...

Replacement immersion heater for unvented cylinder (Ed.)

I reckon it is as it says a 50mm box spanner is recommended. The usual size immersion spanner is surely bigger than that. I will take a look when I go to the van

Replacement immersion heater for unvented cylinder (Ed.)

I am G3 I’ve just never replaced one this size and can not find a replacement. A normal 1 3/4 does not fit because the brass nut section hits the plastic housing on the cylinder that the immersion is in.

Replacement immersion heater for unvented cylinder (Ed.)

I’m looking for a replacement side immersion heater for an unvented cylinder. It’s the smaller threaded one (1 3/4 I believe) but the nut is around the same. All the ones I have found with that thread size the same size nut size as a standard size If I’m making any sense ….. Anyone have a link

Vauxhall combi 1.3 66 plate injector issue

It’s sorted now. Something like the injectors had come out of alignment. Don’t know exactly what he meant. Almost like they come in 2 sections?

Vauxhall combi 1.3 66 plate injector issue

I had an injector spitting fuel (noticed from build of of black tar kind of substance on engine and smell in van) I had the injector washers changed and ever since the van has lacked acceleration and the kick between gears. If i now drive in a higher gear at low speed it gets a little constant...

Ply wood delaminated on warm deck roof

I agree a leak would be noticeable. Surely Spotlight cutouts wouldn’t be sealed otherwise you could never change/maintain them. I would go with i have most likely fitted the Vapor barrier poorly and gaps in the insulation……. Naively not knowing the importance but surely would have damaged...

Ply wood delaminated on warm deck roof

As in a leak? The structural deck is completely fine so maybe through the top?

Ply wood delaminated on warm deck roof

The rest of the build is fine I fail to see how installation of lights can affect a Vapor barrier that is about 250 above it with firrings and structural deck Inbetween I assumed you meant heat

Ply wood delaminated on warm deck roof

There are lots of down-lights below but they are very rarely all on. I think it’s poor VP install by me, only used 100mm insulation and gaps wasn’t filled or tapped. I’m a heating engineer …. Done a self build for the first time. All came out fine except this

Ply wood delaminated on warm deck roof

I have just read up a little about interstitial condensation. It is over the entire roof so I’m guessing this is what it is. What can cause this? Here are the things I think I could have possibly done incorrect. 1. My vapour barrier sheet was in 2 sections due to size and the taping...

Ply wood delaminated on warm deck roof

Hi woody, it wasn’t marine ply but it was definitely an exterior grade ply. I’m fairly certain it wasn’t water ingress and did appear to sweating/condensation but what would cause that? The first layer not being put down correctly? The first layer was that with holes in this supposed to make...
