Not sure how my heating systems works

Hi all, new house, new joys! I've got a primatic central heating system. From what I can see there are 4 pipes coming out of the back boiler, 2 on the left, 2 on the right. 2 on the left go upto the primatic cylinder. the two on the right - 1 goes through a pump and up the other just goes up...

Concrete floor & 1970s brown tiles - to hardboard or not?

Time scale just doesn't allow for lifting them. They don't seem asbestos based, I'd say more bakerlite maybe?

Hi all, sorry if this is a daft question but most of google just answers for wood sub floors. Downstairs living room is a concrete floor with horrible 1970s brown tiles which about about 3mm thick, not sure that they are but all the edges have broken and crumbled up. We are gettin carpet...

    yellow gunk in header tank

From googling, My boiler has a stat on the return so when that drops it kicks in. The temp on flow are about 55' and reutrn 48' does that sound about right? Its a Baxi Bermuda 45/4m back boiler. The MV you can see there is for my central heating. I think my best plan of action for the...

    yellow gunk in header tank

Nothing to show around the boiler only a drain off valve, but here is my airing cupboard. If a cylinder stat is fitted and say the tank water is at 60' but the central heating need more heat, how does the boiler know to kick in? in fact, how does the boiler decided to kick in at all?

    yellow gunk in header tank

Also, i've just thought, the hot water is stupidly hot, even when i turn the thermo down on the boiler. I think i have smelt a funny smell from the hot water too, so this would suggest the coil problem? Is there another way i can test the cylinder? thanks

    yellow gunk in header tank

Hi all. I put some system cleaner in a few months back, left it in for a week as per instruction then flushed the system and added an inhibitor. The boiler has been making ghostly whirling noises lately. I've bled every value and the pump but no air. Checked the header tank and found it to...

    Wall mounted shower isolator switch

Hi all, Having google'd it to death I thought I'd put my circumstances across and get a general opinion. Right, from what I have read there seem's to be no absolute requirement for a isolation switch for an electric shower. Having said that, its considered good practice and I am not...
