2.5mm t&e ok for immersion heater?

Thanks, I'll pick up a length of the proper butyl stuff. We have shower pump and cats water fountain plugged into existing sockets. But also have toothbrush and beard trimmer chargers. Might leave as is and move those to the bedroom then.

2.5mm t&e ok for immersion heater?

Hi Need to replace the cable that runs from the timer unit to the the immersion heater (3kw). You'd normally use the butyl stuff, but would a piece of 2.5mm t&e be ok (as s I have lots spare!) Distance is approx 50cm. 3kw immersion. Timer runs to isolator switch, which runs to cu on 2.5mm and a...

Hi I've tried a new bulb, but same problem, not coming on fully. Guess the fitting itself has died?

Shut off valve not turning back on?

It's ok, looks it was just an airlock in the system, think it's cleared though. Silly me, clever wife.

Shut off valve not turning back on?

Trouble is, I think the pipe may be imperial. Also, the cold storage tank above it is full, how do I empty it so I can safely take off this old valve?

Shut off valve not turning back on?

Hi I shut off the valve to my hot water cylinder to replace the immersion heater, however after doing that and turning everything back in there is no hit water flow. Mains cold us ok and the loft tank has refilled. I'vw definitely turned the valve back on (between cold tank in loft and hot...

    Immersion heater stat testing

Well Well this is fun... pulled the stat out and water came ****ing out after it. The tube the stat sits in has obviously corroded and let in water. Going to have to change the whole thing.

Yep, doing it. Reheated water after turning it down to 50, it's scorching hot again, definitely stat is knackered.

    Immersion heater stat testing

Home now, so have checked the stat with a multimeter. I'm getting ok readings on it. 00.8 on the stat tails. The stat was set to 70°c. I measured the temperature coming out the bath tap, was getting 86°c on it. I've turned the stat down to 50°c and will drain the tank after a shower & washing...

    Immersion heater stat testing

Got my wife to check the stat last night, she said reset button had popped up, so pressed it in and it started working again. However this morning no hot water again and reset hasn't tripped this time. Not home for a little while yet so not yet tested with a meter.

    Immersion heater stat testing

Hmm.. been meaning to do that, hot water coming out really has been hot. Like scald your hand hot. I think it's set on either 65 or 70. Perhaps it has overheated & triggered the reset.

    Immersion heater stat testing

Thanks, yes will check the reset button, I think it has one. What would cause the button to trip though? If it is that is it a cause for concern? The Novice.. I may be wrong, but I think they're all interchangeable? I suspect if you got one from say Screwfix then it'd fit yours fine, just get...

    Immersion heater stat testing

Hi Searched forums but couldn't find an answer to what is probably a common question.. Immersion heater appears to have packed up, no hot water last night or today. The light on the timer switch comes on when the timer kicks in or when you manually boost it, but no hot water. Either the...

    Compatible flush valve

I still need to find a compatible flush valve. Doesn't surprise me at all. I'll be avoiding them too. They're only good point has been customer service. Although they take a few days to sort it, they've sent out replacements for the faulty/damaged items I've had from them.

    Compatible flush valve

I've remove all 6 of the bottom panel fixings and the bottom 2 dowels. The bottom panel now slides on & off and the unit still seems nice and sturdy. Might fit a couple of screws into bottom with chrome covers (for neatness). Makes access much easier if I need it. Getting the flush pipe in was...
