Thanks for you reply - I'll take a look this evening - although I'll probably have to get a plumber out! Anyone have the number of a reputable plumber in Southend on Sea, Essex area??

Yeah, sorry Agile, your advice was fine! - I was fired up by Bamber gaspipe's comments. I'm not a plumber trade - far from it (but if you ever need to be stitched together after an accident - see me!) and I have replaced a diverter valve with the help of members of this forum like yourself...

    Baxi 105e leak query

Wow, I'm amazed at the hostility on this forum. Here I am, an ordinary Joe trying to fix a small problem! Agile - I would like that too, but it's a fact of life that all plumbers aren't like that! My old next door neighbour was a plumber and he was the biggest rip-off merchant around; he'd...

Yes I know, this has been done to death, but I refer to :http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24971&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight= specifically Corgigazza's reply/fix: how simple is this? Can I do it myself or do I need..(Edited because it offended Bamber gaspipe's...

    Silly Combi-boilder CH question

Sorry to bother with a silly question! Just moved into a house with combi-boiler (never seen one before!). Nice to have hot water all time and CH works a treat. Now winter is about to set in, I was wondering what is the most efficient use of the boiler for CH? Currently it is timed...

Continuing Problems with no CH (but have HW!)

thanks to everyone who helped on this - I'm sure this has been a reoccurring problem for lots of people. Well, I've managed to fix it without changing the head! I WD-40'd the spindle and gave it a few back & forth twists - the CH now works!!! (and it came on with the timer this am -...

Continuing Problems with no CH (but have HW!)

Thank you for reply. I'm a novice when it comes to plumbing (if you want an MRI scan, I'm your man - but that's another story!!!), so please excuse me for all my questions. Is the head "universal" or do I need a specific one tailored for my brand of valve? Also is there a website...

Continuing Problems with no CH (but have HW!)

Um... It's a Tower (manufacturer) 3 port motorised valve. Is it possible to take the head off to check for the vavle mechanics without having to drain the system down?

Continuing Problems with no CH (but have HW!)

1st off - thanks very much for the help already provided. BUT - I'm still having problems with my CH. Quick recap.... I previously posted stating that I had HW but no CH. It was helpfully suggested that I remove motor on 3 port valve and "wiggle" the spindle. This I did and yes...

    3 port valve motor question

following on from an earlier post of mine, I've got a problem with my central heating. The hot water works lovely and I've noticed a few posts below with the same problem & taken note of the solutions. Now, I turn on the central heating and it seems to come on. Then there is a "Click" sound...

CH on only when HW on!

Hi, Mandate, Sorry to be a pain - but before I go out and spend money, yet another question! I said yesterday that i got the CH working again on the advice given in this forum - I was only partially correct! The CH does not work again!! Now what happens is this: I turn on the CH and...

CH on only when HW on!

Looks like you've got yourself £10, Mandate!! Stiff spindle - gave it a good pumping (cripes...sounds like a bad Carry On.. film!). Job done! CH now works a treat. Thanks everyone for replies - I now have a happy & warm wife, 4yr old boy and 6mth old twins! Bliss - I'm off down pub!
