    Labour shortage

Good site Plumbers are in high demand again in the UK. With more new builds going up the shortage of Plumbers is huge. Some employers are now paying over £18/hr to retain PAYE staff. I counted over 30 jobs for site Plumbers on-line for Scotland alone!!

    CP12 and tightness testing

Sorry mate but that's just not the case, a Judge will view any competent person going into a property to be just that. Last man in.

    CP12 and tightness testing

Oh I don't know!! Maggie always gave me a raging hard on, mind you so did Tony Blair!! The point is; it's gas FFS it got to stay in the pipe & you're the d.ckhead that signed it off as safe. A Judge in a court of law is always going to look apon it with a common sense view regardless of the...

    CP12 and tightness testing

Last man is to blame!! OK, so you do a Landlord Safety Check & sign the property off as safe. Then the whole lot blows up taking out two adjoining houses & kills 4 people. Your going to stand in the Dock & tell the court, "It's not required under the regs".

    CP12 and tightness testing

Firstly it's no longer called a CP12!! Of course anyone worth their salt is going to do a TT on anything they work on. C'mon it's common sense, you're checking the gas system FFS. That's the problem with course Cowboys, with no trade experience, it's little wonder the trade is f.cked...

I'll not give you a size without doing a HL calc for myself.

Size of Gas Boiler with Underfloor Heating

Where's the Heatloss calcs?? Regardless of heat emitters, the building losses will determined the size of the boiler. 3KW for hot water is the norm but. UFH is ideal for a condensing boiler, but by the very nature of operating UFH it does require a bit of boiler cycling. What I mean by...

    RGI Landlord

Surely one would be more diligent on their own property Tony? But yes, I thought it would be a conflict of interest & wondered if any other RGIs had property they Let out & what reaction they get from their LA? I'm not too sure if it's the same in other parts of the UK? But here in Scotland...

    UFH possible leak

Here's my top tip, but keep it to yourself; To find a leaking UFH pipe on a concrete floor, wet the cold floor with a mop, turn on the UFH. As the floor heats up you'll see the loops in the concrete - as the floor will dry out above the pipes first. Any leak will show up as a big blob of dry...

    UFH below a carpeted floor?

I think it would be daft not to fit UFH if you're replacing the floor. It's simple really, the more you cover the floor with the higher you need to run it at. So nice tiles & no coverings - lowest floor temperature.

How much mark up on parts prices is acceptable?

I've always viewed boiler parts as the smallest part of a repair bill, but lots of hassle so I always charged a 100% markup on these items. Oh you can buy cheaper on-line, but if I support my local indie spares wholesaler, he's going to be there for years & provides a great service. I...
