    Gas cooker and the regs

Interesting I just read the regs again and because the whole downstairs is treated a one habitable room (i.e. open plan) I think I'm ok. Also there is ventliation above the french doors to the conservatory and the kitceh window is left on permanent vent. See what the gas man says I guess.

    Small garden walls

Looking at a few books the general thing seems to be just to use cement for the foundations on top of a small amount of hardcore and then the mortar to put the stones on top of the foundations should be 4 and 1 sand and cement.

    Worried about Uniclic underlay

Thank you for putting my mind at rest, so the only job I simply have to do is the expansion gap, if I get chance to correct the little bits I will, the piece nearest the door is the one that worries me but the bit the otherside I tried putting a chair leg on it then sitting on the chair and it...

    Worried about Uniclic underlay

Have to say I will try and increase the gap just for my own peice of mind. AS for the headers, 3 rows near the middle of the floor. from row 1 of the 3 you have a join, the join on the 2nd row is about 150mm along to the right, then the join on the 3rd row is about aa further 250mm along if...

    Worried about Uniclic underlay

Thats what I thought gonna be a pain cutting them without lifting the floor again, unless I can get to them with a junior hacksaw or a file. The room in total is 4m x 2.5m ish. The 4m length has about 8mm expansion either end but the 2.5m width at times is as little as 5mm. Damn getting...

    Worried about Uniclic underlay

Matty supra you seem to be the source of all my help, thank you for putting my mind at rest. I have some more questions. I found the instructions to the flooring after my mate had left and it states that two joins should not be less than 30cm apart but in at least two places it is less, one...

    Worried about Uniclic underlay

I have just had a friend help me install the UniClic 800 flooring in and we had the foil underlay provided, I'm a little worried as I have re-read the instructions on the underlay and it says about having the underlay overlap up the wall as you do the floor,, then fit the skirting board and trim...

    Bad plastering

Trouble is the electrician did not channel, it was new wall and he simply pinned the plastic conduit to the wall and then the plastered came in afterwards and skemmed over it, he's done the same all the way round but this one area being right in the corner just seems to have been skimmed to...

    Bad plastering

I'm not that skilled at DIY but I am assuming that means I have to pull the cabling out (eek!!), remove the plug socket, drill into the breeze block wall, stick the cables back in the wall and then attempt to plaster it again (which I've never done!). Point is do you agree that either the...

    Bad plastering

When we had our conservatory done a few years back we had electrics put in. The electrician used plastic coverings or whatever you call them to ptrotect the cables and pinned that to the wall rather than routing through the house external brick etc etc. I thought no problem. The plasterer...

How to use self levelling compound! For concrete!

I understand and without pulling up the carpet it would be hard to show you as well. Suffice to say the best description I can give youis as follows, ignore me if you'd rather not have me babble. Lounge and dining room used to be separate rooms, there used to be a wall dividing the two and...

How to use self levelling compound! For concrete!

Hi Mattysupra You are a fountain of knowledge, so in my current predicament what would you recommend, is it worth pulling up the dining room part and trying to level it myself or get someone in. They're not hugely bad and I'm sure long term they won't damage the carpet either but I can see...
