It's something internal that's faulty. Basically it's about 10-15 times louder than it used to be. Even my next door neighbour is complaining. You can hear it from the living room. I feel like the motor may be faulty.

Ok when you say check the soil is below the damp course how would I do that? Looking it I assume the soil is there are there is soil leading up to the vent. The gardner has said that he will leave a gap between the paving and the vent so it's not blocked.
