    Boiler cupboard removal

Good spot, but that's not foam, that's untidy mortar (the white paint was mine). Of course you can never know, so probably should wear a respirator when I cut it open just to be on the safe side.

    Boiler cupboard removal

I don't know if anyone here is familiar with some 70s houses that have a floor-standing boiler in the center in a concrete 'cupboard', with a flue going up through the middle of the house. The boiler and flue have long since been removed but I'm eyeing up removing the cupboard as well now, or...

    Small exterior metal junction box?

No, I have no set unfortunately, just these ones for the 20mm and 25mm threads. It seems that the stock retaining nut (or whatever it's called) has left some of itself on the male thread but it's more or less 'welded' on (crappy photo but see the bottom right of the thread). My solution to...

    Small exterior metal junction box?

Indeed, and I had just such a length in my garage... but minus the two threaded ends which were used on another job!

    Small exterior metal junction box?

Did a couple of conduit threads today, unfortunately on the second one my stock broke! The thread on one of the little thumb screws that keep the die in place just failed, so it won't stay screwed up properly. Now I need a new stock, but I don't think they can be bought on their own. Not my...

    Small exterior metal junction box?

You haven't answered my question about which type of conduit :). As for threading on steel, I have the tech. (clamp and tap) but I'm not sure I still have the muscle to actually use it, it's been a while :(. But with steel conduit threaded it's going to be bomb-proof, so I like that idea :D

    Small exterior metal junction box?

It looks like there's an earth wire connected in the box, so would that be plastic conduit through the wall, or no conduit, or is it steel but you like to feed an earth wire to be on the safe side?

    Small exterior metal junction box?

Ah, so is the thread on these https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/TLC20.html compatible with the threads on the conduit boxes?

    Small exterior metal junction box?

It's to terminate SWA, and take it through a wall, so it'd just have some wago connectors in there. 75mm x 75mm would do although I could go a little larger if that's all there was. The smallest metal box I can see is this one: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/CMSB202015.html Which seems...

    Small exterior metal junction box?

Just a feeling that metal should be stronger than plastic/ABS, nothing else.

    Small exterior metal junction box?

I'm looking for something like a Wiska: https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/WK108B.html but in metal, does such a thing exist? Can't seem to find anything that size with IP65. Or is a Wiska likely to be as tough as a galvanized box? thanks, S.

    Children's play area 'crawl-through'?

Yes I'm beginning to think this is going to be the cheapest option, even if I have to think hard about the aesthetics.

    Children's play area 'crawl-through'?

The reason I prefer something with a flange, is twofold. First, it keeps its shape better, second, it allows me to connect it to an opening really easily. With the pipes suggested here they're fine if buried, not so great if I want to suspend them in the air, and get a really secure connection...

    Children's play area 'crawl-through'?

Good question. It's going to be about 2ft above ground, connecting two 'buildings'. The main reason to put it above ground is to avoid any possibility of it filling with water or other cr*p, though it probably will anyway with muddy shoes in winter etc...

    What's a box tunnel?

    Children's play area 'crawl-through'?

It is for private use, and don't worry I am perfectly capable of constructing stuff that won't fall over that pipe will not be rolling anywhere once I'm done with it, I'm very risk-averse. The main reason they pay so much for the commercial stuff is because the council will get sued if they get...

    Children's play area 'crawl-through'?

I want to create a children's play area, and part of it involves tubes that they can crawl through, approx 0.9m in diameter, I've looked at several approaches to this. 1) Culvert piping. Quite expensive, won't have flanges to connect the ends but they are quite sturdy. Some people are selling...

    Bedroom toilet

I tested this from a few angles. :D. I don't think he can get a splinter unless he lifts the seat. He's probably not going to do that. I'm fortunate because that caber floor is far less likely to give a splinter than normal OSB or other chipboards that I've worked with, not really sure why...

    Bedroom toilet

First, I should warn that unless you have experience of autism you may find my post a little baffling, however I wanted to share this because it's quite possibly been my most successful DIY project ever in terms of effort expended/cost vs reward. This will seem like a bit of a botch, but I've...

    Towel rad replacement

I hear you, and I'm the same. I've got an office with sloping ceilings and all the heat just ends up above waist level instead of convecting round. If I had the money I'd get underfloor heating in the kitchen, but that means a lot more £££. That said, I do know people who hate underfloor...
