Blanki g cooker isolation under sink to pass EICR

Eric, it is either satisfactory or unsatisfactory according to how it compares with the regs in force on the day it is tested. Whether or not it was considered compliant on the day it was designed and installed is not relevant.

Blanki g cooker isolation under sink to pass EICR

No Eric, if something passes when designed but not by today’s regs then it today’s regs it gets inspected and failed to.

    Two 2.5mmT&E to a garage?

You could interpret that as two conductors ( with “fusing”) to one side of an isolator then two conductors out to the end yet along with a third conductor (forming a spur) is not allowed. Yet O am sure that is not what they Actually mean.

    Hager SPD (SBP015N) showing red

Calculators for sale - slight seconds/substandard £5 each or three for £4. Ok I made that one up for a joke

    Hager SPD (SBP015N) showing red

PS - Fluorescent Fittings , 5 ft fittings cheaper than 4 ft fittings, even though more metal and glass they had larger volume of production runs! Likewise - twin sockets cheaper each than single sockets sometimes

    Hager SPD (SBP015N) showing red

It is quite common. Not just in electrics/plumbing etc etc but in normal retail life too examples . Matchmakers 50p one flavour £1.65 a pack of three identical ) a long time ago that one) but recently Turkish Delight 38p one bar yet pack of three identical £1.45, catering ton of plum tomatoes...

    Additional CU

That’s a surprise to me . I assumed any CU is. Anyway whichever solution you choose there are always ways and means of circumvention including pushing it a bit to famn right sculldughing and in reality the only way you have a real risk of getting done for it is if you do it dangerously or very...

    20A mcb or 16A mcb

It’s not that long since that a 1.0 live conductor would have been a no no for a power circuit (such as a central heating boiler or an extractor fan for example - although if it was a lighting circuit with an extractor fan on it such as in a bathroom then the concern was less likely to exist) my...

    More electronics but..

Yes I tjink it was AC126 and AF116 and they were very expensive to replace at the local TV shop but hey ho .

    More electronics but..

I remember as a child (and I’m 70 now) the , to me, amazing kits of yesteryear. Meccano was well established and great fun with gears and even motors in the mechanical engineering field, my pride and joy though was receiving a Phillips EE8 (I think they also did an EE20 too?) using just a few...

Blocking off an unused 13 amp double socket

No no no and no : banned by Scottish gov and Scottish NHS some years ago. Eventually banned by England and Wales NHS and eventually not recommended by Ofsted. Read fatally flawed dot co dot uk. They should never ever ever be used

    "REFUTE"

When I was in engineering we used to call it a “picture” rather than a “drawing” but that was a quite deliberate thing we did

Are ferrules recommended with stranded wire on a fused spur?

I`ll not argue with that one Harry. Dont get me wrong - I am not against ferules,in fact I am for them, it`s just for years we did not really bother with them unless we happened to actually have some. To me, the most important thing is a nice neat correction with plenty surface area of contact...

    "REFUTE"

Why is this modern incorrect use of this term (" I refute that") when they have not refutted it at all? To refute is to prove that an accusation is wrong and not purely to deny it! I think it could be poloticians that deliberately use this word so wrongly. might have even been a certain Mr...

    Minor works certificate

As far as I am aware, a report was decided in court to be allowed to call a certificate (We as Electricians usually refer to certificates and reports (PIR/EICRs) as seperate things. If we follow that lead (some might not like it) that they are all "certificates" of some kind then it just might...

Are ferrules recommended with stranded wire on a fused spur?

I dont usuallly use ferrules but when using flex then a good bit of neat twisting and doubling, in an ideal world any conductor should, in theory, be made to fill the (round tunnel type ?) terminal to get maximum contact area and a good mechincal joint, ferrules can go a long way towards...

Is This Some Kind Of Backdraught Shutter?

I remember quite a fewfolk (Both Trade and DIY) returned them to suppliers thinking they were faulty because of this effect and if the person behind the counter was savvy enough he would explain this deliberate feature - I did suggst to one that it might make life easier if he had a model on...
