    New cooker

Hi me again. According to the Dixons website the required distance is 760mm. According to a man in Comet it is 750mm. According to another man in Comet ( not an employee) this relates to distance from combustible surfaces. We estimate a clearance of 710mm to 750mm depending on selection of...

    New cooker

A neighbour has an existing (faulty) gas cooker in an alcove which must have housed some sort of range cooker at some time. A guy who come to look at the cooker said that if she wanted a new one, he did not think it would be able to go in the same place, although he did not have the correct...

    HW problem

Update.... Stripped out cylinder and flushed boiler pipe work. Eventually a lump of what appeared to be cement dropped out. Must have been in there from day one X amount of years ago. Anyway put everything back together and it works fine. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

    HW problem

Oooookay. If we strip the cylinder out and find a blockage other than sludge, i.e. limescale is there anything we can use to remove it. Does anyone know if the waterways on a back boiler are interlinked. could we add something to the heating side that would treat the hot water side? .Once again...

    HW problem

System is a back boiler, pumped CH and gravity HW to a cylinder. Top pipe to cylinder coil gets hot but bottom one does not. heated water goes up vent pipe into header tank. We suspect some sort of blockage in the gravity circuit. We thought about using a chemical cleaner, but given that there...

    New heating system

My cousin has just had a house built. There is a shiny new Vokera Unica boiler and TRV's on all rads except one of the bathrooms. There is no room stat. I thought these had to be fitted now, or does this not matter so much with condensing boilers. Just curious so I thought I'd ask.

    Waste pipes through joists.

Is it possible/allowed to drill a joist to run 40mm pipe through. The joists in question are about 8 inch by 2 inch. I would imagine that some form of steel plate reinforcement would be required. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

    Sliding wardrobe doors

Thanks for the reply masona. I was hoping to have the framing in place so that I could just purchase the doors and fit them. Haven't much storage space. I suppose it's the best way to go though. Cheers.

    Sliding wardrobe doors

I'm looking to create a built-in wardrobe using something like Stanley sliding doors. Apparently they fit into an opening height of 88" (if I remember correctly). Does anyone know if there is any height adjustment on the doors. As I will have to install some form of battening to floor and...
