    Drainage Alterations

That sounds like a plan to me Hugh (y) Thanks. Should be straight-forward enough to expose the joint and replace it with a chamber. I bow to your superior knowledge here obviously Hugh and wouldn't attempt to question you know what you're talking about.......BUT ;) just as a "belt and braces...

    Drainage Alterations

I did wonder if a small inspection chamber in the connection might be an option - thanks. Seeing as the drain in the neighbours M/H is only about 600mm deep it shouldn't take too much finding I reckon. The idea for letting the bath waste into the soil stack instead of the WC pipe was to try to...

    Drainage Alterations

Hi peeps. I wonder if some of you guys could have a quick look over the ideas I have for altering the drainage due to my bathroom refurb I'm starting on please and see if there are any glaring errors to my plans ? We haven't got our own soil stack at the moment (it's a late 1970's/80's...

New bath has arrived, why is it shorter than sales spec dims?

Our last whirlpool was based around a Carron Bath and it was a quality bit of kit, hence why I'm going for another one. Thanks Baths'N'Gas (y)

*bump....I take it there are no takers for this question ? :(

New bath has arrived, why is it shorter than sales spec dims?

Sorry to hijack the thread draughtsman but this wouldn't happen to be a Carron Quantum SE would it ? I haven't seen many baths of that size, which is perfect for my space and the only reason I ask is that is the model I'm considering buying and it would be handy to know. Cheers

    Shower/Bidet Toilets

I'm going to be buying a wall-hung Shower Toilet for my bathroom refurb but wondered if you guys have any likes/dislikes about certain makes ? I've originally been interested in either the Vitra or Grohe products, which retail for between £1500 and £2000 (+wall-frame) but recently I came across...

    Removing all old Inhibitor

Not a problem Ian as I used Fernox F1 Inhibitor when I altered the pipework a couple of years ago and I've bought F3 Cleaner this time around. Thanks.

    Thanks Ian, much appreciated.

    Removing all old Inhibitor

Hi all. Well, it's getting close to that time when the heating will be turned back on. In the last few months I've replaced four of my radiators for designer ones but the two remaining standard type in the kitchen and bathroom haven't been done yet. I drained the system to change the pipework...

Central Heating Thermostat "Hack".....is it possible ?

Hi TTC. Well, it seems like the resistor is not required after all ;) I'm sure you prolly already know this but in the settings you can set up the floor type to "user defined". Once I did that and then told it to just use air temperature it didn't show an error message so all's good. :mrgreen...

Central Heating Thermostat "Hack".....is it possible ?

Thanks again TTC. Nice to know that one of my "ideas" will actually work this time :-)

Central Heating Thermostat "Hack".....is it possible ?

The probe that comes with (new boxed) the 'stat is described as a 10KΩ NTC which, with my limited knowledge appears to indicate a 10KΩ value for 25°C. I was gonna fit an 18KΩ resistor (only coz I've got one handy) which gives a temp. reading of approx 10°C but as I'll be setting it up to ignore...

Central Heating Thermostat "Hack".....is it possible ?

Great stuff TTC. Thanks for your help. I've got nothing to lose as I got them given FOC so I'll see what comes of it. So can you see any problems with how I want to connect the switched live output into my CH system ?

Central Heating Thermostat "Hack".....is it possible ?

Thanks TTC. The 'stats are warmup 3ie models. According to the manual, they will work without a floor probe attached but they give an error code. They have got the function to just use the air sensing option hence my question about replacing the probe with a fixed resistor. All I'm concerned...

Central Heating Thermostat "Hack".....is it possible ?

Hi all. As the title suggests. I've recently been gifted a couple of really nice looking full colour screen underfloor heating thermostats (for the wall) and I was wondering if I could connect a fixed resistor across the floor sensor probe terminals to stop the 'stat error messaging through...

    Gas Meter Box Dimensions

Another nice surprise.........thought I'd ask how much a full reconnection would be to save having to bother my plumber and it came back as £522, so only another £48 (y) Might as well get NGN to do all the work in one day. Got some info off the building forum as well and they say a dpm isn't...

    Gas Meter Box DPM

OK, so cavity tray it is then - cheers. I was just concerned re the damp issue but obviously there's no worries about that judging by your replies. I must admit, I can't see why a lintel is needed as there's only three bricks in the triangle above the box opening but if you guys see a need for...

    Gas Meter Box DPM

Thanks for the replies, I've attached an image that is actually inside the new box. The only reason I am asking is that somewhere on here, I remember seeing someone complaining about damp appearing on their inside wall just behind the meter box so I just wanted to make sure whatever is best for...
