Water getting in around window. Fix?

Thanks. And that photo from Gaz helped to explain a lot. The thing is, we actually at the very least need new windows. They're terribly misted up. Surprising when the stamp on the side is 06/11. It's not just in patches either, it's all over every single pane. I know this is no reason to...

Water getting in around window. Fix?

Had another chap come out (window fitter again). This one had been revising his sales pitch all night i could tell :D Anyway i spoke again of the silicone at the ends of the cill & he said it's possible & that a new window should fix it if it's the window that's at fault. Kept telling me if it...

Water getting in around window. Fix?

I thought i'd seen all the replies on this after my last post. I guess not. I have no photo of the plaster hacked off with it totally exposed unfortunately. I was at work that day & my wife never took photos with it totally opened up as the bloke was working there & she's not the type to bother...

Water getting in around window. Fix?

UPDATE: I can't remember what we said last time but the damp proofers came out, knocked off plaster where it was getting damp, inserted DPC & replastered. Since that we've had rain but only had 1 day of really hard-hard rain. The result was the worst effected side didn't get damp, but the...

Fair price for a custom made interior door?

Why wont it give me the option to give you a tanks for that? Oh well. Thanks :) Looks like we'll be cleaning the current doors up then :D I did think it'd be a little dear but it was worth an ask at least.

Fair price for a custom made interior door?

Just wondering what sort of price range I should realistically be looking at for replacement doors? The measurements are: 198cm in height 59cm wide 40cm thickness These are to separate the living room & diner as the existing doors are badly scratched at the base panels with the previous owner...

    Something to remove rounded screw?

Well i had a bash at using those removal tools. Must've been using them wrong or something - didn't even come close. So tried drilling the head off. I've drilled a bit of a hole but it hasn't gone any further than that. Next step is the angle grinder & grind the thing off.

A little advice regards hanging this radiator?

Just googled those plugs. There's a hell of a lot of numbers & letters http://www.screwfix.com/c/screws-nails-fixings/nylon/cat5270014#category=cat5270014&brand=fischer I know which i think are the ones, but just to be sure ... which ones? I'm thinking it's the top right ones which say 6-8...

A little advice regards hanging this radiator?

Is the plugs colour a rule or a guide only? As it was a brown plug that was used if that helps decide what the next size up is. Not sure if this dictates the size of plug or whether it means nothing at all. I think i still have some gripfill left over from a job somewhere if that's any good...

A little advice regards hanging this radiator?

All was going so well too & i'd avoided making a thread on the topic :( lol Just painting the walls that had been plastered & rather than trying to squeeze rollers behind radiators which in some case wasn't possible, i figured i'd just take them off, paint the job properly & then re-fit. 3...

    Location of 'window cavity seal'?

Hopefully a simple one for those in the know. We have leaking windows in the living room & a chap was recommended to me so i fired off an email giving as much info as i could. He's responded asking if the "cavity seal is in good condition above the window". I google imaged "window cavity...

Paving slabs (for hearth) ended up lifting. How to fix?

Measured up today. The joints on our flags are quite thin, especially compared to my mothers. Contributing factor? Our hearth... Between front right & the rear flag.... Between front 2 flags... Then compared to my mothers....... (joint between her front 2 flags)

Tips on painting a feature wall (chimney breast) please?

^^ 0:50 seconds, why does he run sealant down there? Or decorators caulk, whatever you wish to call it. I've done some searching on it & that's the second time i've seen that but they don't say why you caulk it. Surely the tape alone would be enough?

Tips on painting a feature wall (chimney breast) please?

Thanks for the reply. I googled "chisel-tipped synthetic brush". Are you meaning just an angled brush? I have one already in which i got for a job that wasn't so important. Bought it from Wilkinsons so it's only a cheapy. The end while angled is very beefy. I bought a set of Purdy brushes for...

Tips on painting a feature wall (chimney breast) please?

Basically the chimney breast - that's the face & the 2 small side sections is to be painted a different colour to the other walls (the 2 you see either side of it here). Now i'm a novice painter. I'm looking for advice on how i can get a professional line down there where it right angles. If...

    Something to remove rounded screw?

Will there be enough power in a cordless to drill the head off? I think our mains drill died which if i remember right only leaves the 18v Makita cordless thing. My dad had a few drills that were mains powered but i know 2 went kaput & i think the third one also conked out recently.

    Something to remove rounded screw?

I'd prefer to get it out if i can. And without this it'd be left with only 2 screws ;) I've never drilled out a screw before to be honest. Do you just get a small drill bit & do it like that or does it have to be larger than the screw itself? Type of drill bit too? Make sure it specifies metal?
