    Ideal mini boiler problem

I have an Ideal mini combi boiler, having not used the heating all summer, when I switched it on the other day I noticed the pressure was going way too high Usually it's at just over one when cold, adds about half a bar when heating /hot water is on It is now just climbing until over 3...

    White ceiling and white coving?

Ceiling in emulsion obviously, but coving in satinwood... I've done it (with light coloured walls) and it looks great.

    Which floor varnish

Done my house (pine floors) with hardwaxoil which is superb stuff IMO, looks natural and is plenty tough enough for domestic purposes Been down 2 years and barely a mark on it, and over time it cures and ages beautifully

    Painting coving

Done mine in Satinwood, it has that slightly glossy effect to pick it out from the walls... really nice

Correcting bodgy paint job in Kitchen

My kitchen was painted by the previous occupants, on closer inspection they appear to have plastered themselves (poor job) and then fired on kitchen paint with no mist coat This is now lifting off in places and chunks can be taken off back to the bare plaster quite easily However I'm not...

    Painting coving

I've used plaster cornice so far in my house, and I've used a primer/undercoat first then satinwood on top, for a nice semi-gloss type of finish However I'm using paper covered plaster coving in my kitchen I want to paint it with Satinwood again, but what base coat would I use?

    Paint, Stain or Varish banister/spindles?

That's uncannily like my place and is a job I'm just doing ! Kudos from me for restoring a place to it's former glory. I have stripped my stairs and 'stained' (hardwaxoiled) But the handrail and banister and spindles I'm going to paint Only my personal opinion, but I think the stairs...

    Conservatory hell

Thanks. Will do re: Wickes. I called BVC, they won't send parts out. Wouldn't even confirm that if I did the 300 mile drive up there they'd let me collect. ps Hope your employment situation is sorted.

    Conservatory hell

Thanks for the replies folks, much appreciated To be honest it's one of those where I didn't pay attention until I realised there were parts missing, went to Homebase and they told me to deal with the manufacturer I'll try the google search, believe it or not 'conservatory parts' hadn't...

    "Feature" wall

Dark wall first is a good idea, I wouldn't go round the returns as suggested above though. I'd go for a straight line first go using the tape. Depends on the contrats of colours but for me, getting dark paint on a light wall is going to be a pain When done Light tack masking tape the dark...

    Conservatory hell

Hi all We purchased a conservatory via Homebase a while ago, when we came to assemble it they had supplied some incorrect parts. The third party supplier we apparently bought from (we didn't know there was a third party) were Best Value Conservatories and after not remedying the probem...

    Stripping

Absolutely right Plus if you are replastering, it's ideal...get the old stuff off, tack a strip of timber on the door lining for the plasterer to go up to (usually about 4mm thick, depends how level your existing plaster and door lining are) and then on goes the new architrave, and everything...
