Why do I need one of those? Also just had a quick google, any idea what would be a suitable type for 3m of those tape style LEDs I linked above? Thanks for the help

    Wardrobe Lights Wiring

Thanks! Yeah sorry the link was for the type of LED product I'm thinking of, I just want warm white. Could you explain a little bit more about the supply I need? What do you mean by flying lead? Also... I roughly understand wiring them in parallel but a quick explanation of this too would be epic.

    Wardrobe Lights Wiring

Hi, I am fitting wardrobes and would like to install LED lights which come on when any of the doors are opened. There are four carcasses with a total of 6 doors and my plan would be to run one single 3m strip of LED lights along the top by drilling through the carcasses. this is the type of...

    Suitable morticer?

Thanks. Do you think this machine would take a 4" timber? Any way of knowing without buying it and just trying?

    Suitable morticer?

Hi all, I'm going to attempt to build driveway gates for my new house, it's a project I've wanted to do for a while and I'm looking at a second hand morticer advertised locally. Could anyone advise me on whether this machine would be suitable to chisel mortices into 4x3" timber or is it not big...

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

There's a sketch of what I've found, the lintel fixes into the trimmer just incase that bit isn't clear

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

Nothing. The wall is bricked up to it but there's plasterboard on the underside of the trimmer and joist so I don't think it's supporting it

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

The upstairs wall seems to sit on a timber lintel which spans from the trimmer to the outside wall. How does this relate to the wall below?

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

I've just smashed a bit more plasterboard out and found that the timber joist/lintel seems to fix into the trimmer at the top of the stairs and doesn't actually sit on the wall. So.... I'm right back to square one and my question is, can the timber that does sit into the brick wall (the one...

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

Yeah the idea was to lose the whole lot so a table and chairs would go there. Having to leave part of the cupboard arrangement there would be a shame so I wouldn't go ahead with that. Thanks for all the help by the way

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

Well I was hoping there was a solution to knock out that cupboard completely leaving only the bulkhead in the corner. I had originally thought the wall above was simply built on the first floor joists but on closer inspection there's a timber lintel carrying this weight and is sitting on the...

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

Yeah that's right it's a cupboard there, and the stairs are beyond the kitchen wall. I think I've figured out there's a wooden lintel that does hold the wall above, and this lintel sits on the wall I'm wanting to remove. It also catches the quarter landing. So... think I'm out of luck in...

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

Ah I understand. How can I find out if the wall is a mid span support like you mention? I guess it's quite likely actually but is there a chance that it's not? And that the wall below simply does just carry the quarter landing? Also IF that's the case would it even be possible to then hang the...

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

The wall above is actually sitting on the floorboard and joist (the green lines I've drawn in the second photo)

The spotlight is beneath the second turn in the stairs yes.

    Spalling external bricks

What type of flat roof is it? And what's it's condition?

    Removing supporting wall beneath stairs

The wall above sits on the first floor joist by the look of it, won't be possible?
