    Anyone recognize this tap?

OK, I get the message. I promise I won't ever ask you guys for advice on anything ever again. My original opinion of plumbers was obviously the correct one. Lead poisoning strikes again. It says a lot about this forum that the word smart-arse has to be detected and bowdlerized.

    Anyone recognize this tap?

I guess that's a matter of personal taste. My wife and I both like it a lot. But may I refer you to my earlier post, re. smart-arse remarks.

Oh, really? You do surprise me! I was actually looking for help here, not just smart-arse remarks.

    Anyone recognize this tap?

Does anybody have any idea who might have made this kitchen sink tap? The rubber seals on the swivelling spigot are gone. The original seals were a sort of squared U-section, with an OD of about 41mm, and an ID of around 38mm. I've tried O-rings, but the nearest size I can find get stiffer day...

    re-inforcing a wooden floor

I wouldn't worry too much about the extra weight of the two people, though. See Archimedes.

Easiest way to reduce dowels diameter

I have seen this done with a table saw, on The Woodworking Channel, I think. The guy simply rotated the dowel by hand against the fence while feeding it forwards. Looked really easy, but I haven't tried it. A cheap table saw would be a lot cheaper than that dedicated dowel maker, I'll bet.

    100mm Torus skirting

My local timber merchants ripped some 150mm down to 100mm for me. I think they charged me a little extra. There was no grain involved, however, since the skirting was made from the wood of the MDF tree. Having said that, there should be no problem ripping proper wood.

    Drill guide.

I just fitted a couple of security bolts in my patio doors, and I wasn't very happy with the results, since I didn't manage to get the holes (the ones drilled into the edge of the door)entirely true(using 16mm flat wood bit). Are there any jigs or guides one can buy/make to make this easier or...

Tongue & Groove in the Bathroom

Indeed, but I bought the "bead and but", and I don't think you could reproduce the profile with a plunge router - not without 3 passes and a cutter change. Next time I'll know better!

Tongue & Groove in the Bathroom

I think the grooved MDF is great, I'm sorry I didn't discover it earlier. I've made a couple panel doors with it and I'm going to make some more. It's really expensive, though!

    Cupboards and shelves in alcoves.

I'm planning (after I've laid the new wood floor) on building cupboards and shelves into the alcoves on either side of my chimney breast, I want the cupboards to project slightly, and the TV will sit on the cupboard top, under the first bookshelf. The bookshelves will be the same depth as the...

    Tornado router cutters from Rutlands

Nice try, but look again... Scribe end of rails face up, profile rails and stiles face down. Step tow is just to aid setting the height of the cutter. I think I'll either have to buy a pair, or make a special work holder for scribing the rail ends that wedges the stock up against a fixed datum.
