Toupret instruction says dry surface so I waited for OneCoat to dry.

How best to fill a chase?

I have used onecoat to fill up chases before. It's quite easy to use but finish isn't as smooth as multi unless you know how to sponge float. If I were you I'll deep fill the chase with Onecoat as a undercoat, and finish with toupret which is a fantastic product for surface finish.

    Wall after stripped of wallpaper

It looks from the photo you've not filled/sanded the wall yet? It also looks the some yellow paints were still peeling. You need to remove all the loose paint first.

    Wall after stripped of wallpaper

There could be so many reason why primer isn't sticking to the substrate. Is the wall very clean, absolutely no adhesive residue left, dust-free from sanding and equal smoothness? Are they blister bubble or tiny air bubbles? Does it happen on the area that's you've filled or previously painted...

Joncryl Primer or Zinnser BIN for skirting & architrave?

So I've created new problems for myself now:confused:. Just took a closed look of the skirting board and saw that I've melted some knots off the skirtings and architrave in the process of using heat gun. Also, some part of skirting had very a stubborn layer of OB paint that just wouldn't bubbled...

    Bathroom paint recommendations

I bought my Johnstone's from Paintshed. Great service and fast delivery too. They can help with all the colour matching. I've heard some good things about Easycare, apparently it's "almost" the same as Dulux Diamond just slightly thinner for easier rolling according to a handyman friend...

Joncryl Primer or Zinnser BIN for skirting & architrave?

Ty both for the replies and the informative discussion. A sale staff also warned me about difficult flow with BIN and recommended Fossa Block and Bond, I am almost sold when he said the price is half of BIN. Do you know the product? @opps I am not keen on OB Paint due to yellowing and the...

    Bathroom paint recommendations

I used Johnstone's Acrylic Durable Matt in my bathroom, kitchen and hallway. It's similar to cleanable matt but has anti-mould ingredient in it.

Joncryl Primer or Zinnser BIN for skirting & architrave?

Hi, I'm repainting skirting boards, architraves & door frames that had multiple layers of gloss paint in the last 50 years. I've stripped the paint with heat gun due lead paint present in the last layer (or the very first coat of primer/undercoat?). I would like to use Johnstone's Aqua Satin for...

    Wall after stripped of wallpaper

You need to clean/prepare the wall first. Scrape off peeling paints and wash the wall with sugar soap and hot water to get adhesive off. Sand the wall over, fill the peeled-paint area with toupret fine filler and sand again until touch smooth. Apply acrylic primer then your choice of emulsion.

Hi, Can I please get some help selecting a suitable electric sander to prepare walls for painting, sand gloss painted door and window sill for my 2 bed flat and my sister's 3 bed house, so lots sanding! This sander will need to sand: - wallpaper paste residue (even after sugar soap and hot...

    Skim wall using easifill

This looks fab. 15kg of Easifill for all the walls and it's 3 coats each. That's not expansive at all. Did you also seal with Gardz like the video?

    Universal TRV heads?

The threads on TRV and lock shield valve connecting to rad tails are 3/4 imperial so I just assumed the iron/steel pipe is 3/4. I think you are right the pipe can't be 3/4. Not only the vernier reading is 21mm-22mm OD, the nut on rad tails are considerably larger than the nuts on pipe so pipe...

    Universal TRV heads?

We have communal heating in the building and the system currently drained off. The pipe are cast iron. This is a typical set up of radiator. All TRV valves look the same. There are two types of locksheild valve. It looks like there's tread on pipe, is that possible?

What’s the best way to deal with this crack?

Is plaster still adhering to wall nicely? If so you can fill it up with filler. Troupet flexible filler is very good it moves with substrate. However, if plaster sounds hollow when you knock on it you will have to hack the plaster off to bare brick and sort to the brick gap with mortar and patch...

new plaster / mist or not or what?

Sometimes new plaster surface can be too polished to take in any mist coat. I had that problem and eventually had to use Gardz to spot seal the area that doesn't take any paints.

    Universal TRV heads?

That sensor head is almost the same price as whole set of valve for some brand. I prefer to change the valve too but the whole system is imperial not metric. I'm happy to get radiators too. What kind reducer/adaptor do I need for connection from imperial 3/4 pipe (cast iron) to 15mm valve?

    Universal TRV heads?

Some of the TRV heads in my home are old and don't work very well anymore. Is there any universal TRV head that fits any make? If not, will the same make of TRV definitly fits one another? Mine are made by Danfoss but there is no part/model number on it. They all look like this thanks.

    Cooker keeps tripping off circuit.

Here’s the photo a cracked terminal. I’ve now managed to cut the cable free from attaching the cooker and the circuit doesn’t trip anymore! According the the spec, the hob is 5.8Kw max and oven is 2.3kw max, bringing the total to 8.1kw, I think 10mm T&E should’ve been used instead 6mm. I...

    Cooker keeps tripping off circuit.

Opened up the cooker isolation switch, L/N/E connection are all solid. The led/neon light don’t work anymore so I removed the cable. I then pulled the cooker out to disconnect the hardwired cable, only to see that the connection block is pretty fried up. In an attempt to unscrew and...
