    Cooker keeps tripping off circuit.

Last night I was going to pull out the cooker I thought I should I should check if the oven is working at all as I've only tried the hob previously and perhaps it's just the hob that's faulty. I turned off all other circuits on CU leaving just cooker MCB and the RCD live, as soon I turned on...

    Cooker keeps tripping off circuit.

Thx for the reply. Both MCB and RCD tripped now and the very first time too. No electrical test has been done recently but there was a new addition of kitchen circuit in 2011. I haven't used the oven so not sure if checking resistance on oven element means anything? I have a air fryer and a...

    Cooker keeps tripping off circuit.

I have recently purchased a property that has a freestanding electric hob and double oven all in one unit. The place had been empty for 7 month and I tested the hob in the last viewing and it was working. Yesterday I switched on the hob for the first time after moved in, it took out the...

    Plaster shortage

Well done, did you use Max or Lite for finish?

    Plaster shortage

Mixing is simple though. The difficult bit is knowing how to control the suction on wall, and how to spread plaster tight and flat whilst not leaving any marks. If you want a smooth finish you'll need at least 2 tubs (ie, ProRoll max first, followed by ProRoll light). I'd say go for it if you...

    Plaster shortage

this is ok to use, but very expansive, £25 for 10m2 coverage at 1mm, whereas multi is only £7ish for same coverage at 2mm. The finish is not as fine/smooth as multi finish, they have another 'light' version which has better finish.

how to make good of an artex ceiling?

My ceiling is made of concrete with stipple effect artex paint on it. I've removed coving throughout my flat for redecoration and getting prepared to rent it out. Is there other way to make good of the ceiling edges besides skimming? Thanks.

Sealer, primer, or mist coat bare and old plaster?

I've removed 2 layers of wallpapers and a layer of lining paper, it revealed a grey plaster that was originally from the 60s. I have repaired imperfections and cleaned the wall the best ability I can. I know that bare plaster wall should be mist coated first, but I am not confident the wall is...

    Bosch or Katsu Router?

For kitchen units, only the curved cuts will be handled by router. I have 1 gloss door I need to trim down 3cm so I am hoping router can do cleaner cut than circular/jig saw. I can't justify buying a Makita as I only have a flat to renovate not even a house, I'll probably use the router few...

    Bosch or Katsu Router?

Hi all, I'd like to get a router to help with my renovation. I've modified an IKEA cupboard yesterday to hide a pipeworks yesterday and it's not giving me enough of clean and accurate cut I want. The imminent tasks I can think of for now are: - cut laminated/melamine cornice pelmet plinth. -...

60W Candle Bulb in 40w plastic holder

Thanks everyone. The bathroom fitting uses 2 small edison screw candle shape light bulbs. The fitting doesn’t have enough space for any other shape/size light bulb. (I tried with my desk lamp bulb that uses SES bulb and it wouldn’t fit). The shop I went to has the 60w incadecent candle bulb...

60W Candle Bulb in 40w plastic holder

My bathroom light bulb still uses incandescent type and was dead yesterday. Bathroom renovation is happening in January so I don't want to buy any expansive LED ones. My local electrical supply shop only has a 60w incandescent bulb in stock but the light fitting label says max 40w. The shop...

    Blanco silgranit Sink Discoloured

I remember reading a post someone had a discolour problem on a blanco Silgranit too. It turned out they were being too careful and not cleaning the sink enough. Limescale built up on the surface which soaked up colour of food. Usually vinegar or citrus acid should clear limescale but check the...

do I need a lintel/RSJ or any support?

Hi I have a old airing cupboard that I'd like fit a washing machine and a tumble dryer now. The depth of the space is 61cm. This means I need to remove part of the back wall to give me enough room for the washer and dryer. The wall is built in 60s with some sort of grey/black breezer blocks...

    Is this acceptable work?

I paid 50% already for first fix, I am having doubt having him back because this is not the first time I have issues with their works. I called his regulation body and they said even if I make a complaint they will ask him to come back to rectify it so I am now have to check all the works done...

    Is this acceptable work?

Thanks guys, good to know it wasn't me being picky. Should I expect the unsheathed cable put back in conduit like before or have the cable replaced? It's a 6mm cable for induction hob, should I also expect to see junction box instead of a taped up connection?

    Is this acceptable work?

Hi Folks Does anyone know what the regulation says regarding unsheathed core in an inaccessible area such as buried under plaster directly, behind plasterboard or inside a boxed-up void/conduit? My spark has extended the current kitchen ring and change its use for induction hob. The cable was...
