    Have I made a mistake?

I have just laid tiles in the downstairs loo. I levelled the floor with self levelling compound and I have just realised that I didn't apply anything on top of the floor before putting the tile adhesive down. Should I have applied some diluted pva or was I ok just to carry straight on with...

    Gap between Bath and Wall

yes, I've tried youtube - there are plenty of videos, but I watched one where a man screwed 2 by 2 to the wall and made a frame under to help the bath stay in place. Another video, the chap didn't use wood but masticked the bath in place. My nephew has put my bath in and he hasn't made a...

Please tell me how to turn my heating on manually - ECOtec plus 32

Hi I can't find the manual so I don't know how to turn the heating on. At the moment, the thermostat is connected up. The electricians are coming back tomorrow to connect. But in the meantime, the house is cold. We've had the heating on before but I wasn't about to see what buttons were...

    Wardrobe Doors Not Closing Properly

Hi Last year I had a carpenter make me some built in wardrobes out of mdf. The doors are huge at 2.4m in height. He used some hinges (3 on each door) that are adjustable. However, something has gone wrong (we had our bedroom windows removed and before new ones were in place a huge gust of...

    Gap between Bath and Wall

Sorry, I'm never clear lol. Just another thing, is it OK to tile the bathroom after I've fitted the bath. I'm only going to tile the bath area and have the rest of the bathroom painted.

    Gap between Bath and Wall

Currently, the gap between the bath and the wall is 2 cms so thats a bit too big for me to build out. The wall at the top of the bath is a stud wall so I am going to remove the aqua board and change the battons to larger sizes. What I need to know is should the bath be flush against the wall...

I chickened out on using the sprayer! Have just done the mdf primer with a roller. Thanks for confirming it should all be sprayed - I will be better prepared next time.

    Spraying Doors

Hi I will be spraying some doors. The doors need priming with MDF primer. Should I spray the primer as well? If I use a roller for the primer, would this affect the finish when I put the actual paint on with the sprayer? Basically, what should I do to get the best finish. The doors are...

    Repairing Some Plaster

Hi I'm having a go at a bit of DIY. I got an electician to run me an extra socket and now I need to make good the plastering. My house is Victorian so the walls are different. I was just going to put some patching plaster in then skim over with multifinsh but I can now see that there is...

    Remove Doors or Not?

OK, thank you. Also, just another thing. If you look at the picture, you will see a couple of marks. The marks are from Bio Oil. I had some on my arm and accidently touched the doors. Should I cover the oil mark with Zinsser 123 befor applying the mdf primer? Many thanks.

    Remove Doors or Not?

Hi I have six very tall mdf doors to paint. An idea of the total area is about 2.4m high covering a 3.6m length wall. The paint I will be using is an Eggshell Acrylic - the technical dept said this was the best product for the wood. I'd like to use a spray machine to get a nice finish...

Water Coming Up BathWaste into Bath

I always appreciate having things done right. At the end of the day, I would have thought the majority of posters on here are DIYers, so you are always going to get a mixed bag of responses. I'm not quite sure how I am going to tell my nephew 'without hurting his feelings', that the DIY job he...

Water Coming Up BathWaste into Bath

Thank you. You have totally made up my mind. I'm going to change the stack to the usual type and just have it painted white. I guess it isn't the end of the world to have a soil pipe at the front of the house.
